Cataclysm Mod Minecraft

Overview

Fans of Minecraft Dungeons may want to replicate some of their favorite features on Java Edition to play with friends. Whether you want similar bosses or special abilities, it’s through using modifications. One of these is known as L_Ender’s Cataclysm, a Forge mod that introduces strong boss fights, new powers, items, blocks, and more. Explore your server’s world to uncover mysterious structures that lead you on wild Minecraft adventures. There’s even valuable loot to help you and others along the way, such as maxed out enchanted diamond tools. Setting up these features are easily done on our panel, but may confuse newcomers to the modding scene. Getting Started

L_Ender’s Cataclysm Mod

Upon joining the server, you’ll want to play normally to gather resources. These include the basics, such as wood, stone, iron, diamonds, and so on. This is heavily suggested, as you’ll need to be well equipped before fighting bosses or exploring the new dungeons. Most of these are found in other dimensions, while only one is located in the Overworld. It’ll be randomly generated, so searching for them will take some time. Once you’ve entered a dungeon and slain the boss, there’ll be lots of new items and materials available for you to try out. We’ll break down everything you need to know about L_Ender’s Cataclysm in the subsections below to get you started on this new adventure. However, you may want to consider installing the JEI mod to easily view all items and their crafting recipes if applicable to help you out more.

Locating Dungeons

When you and others are prepped with strong gear, tools, and weapons, finding dungeons is the next step. Remember, there’s only one in the Overworld with more found in different dimensions. It’s best to explore cave systems deep within your world to locate the first dungeon, an Ancient Factory. Otherwise, feel free to enter the Nether or End dimension to hunt for their types. The list of them all are found below for you to be extra prepared when taking on their challenges.

Ancient Factory

Starting off with the first one, Ancient Factories can be located throughout the Overworld. This is a large structure with several rooms and redstone-based machines. Finding this dungeon requires you to dig enough until reaching Deepslate levels, then getting lucky to stumble on it. In other words, this structure’s only location is deep within caves near Bedrock.

Remember, there’s a boss somewhere in this dungeon so be prepared when entering its domain. Although, there’s a small puzzle to complete for the main fight.

Burning Arena

Cataclysm Burning Arena

While continuing forward with your adventure, there’ll be another dungeon in the Nether dimension. This is known as the Burning Arena, an enormous structure standing tall around this hellish world. There’s countless rooms, chests, and other areas to explore. The main stage for the boss fight is near the center-top, so keep this in mind when searching for it.

Additionally, don’t expect an easy battle since the monster will use Nether aspects against you. We strongly suggest avoiding this dungeon until you’re fully ready to take on its challenges.

Soul Black Smith

Another interesting and smaller dungeon to find in the Nether is a Soul Black Smith. This is a secluded area with minimal areas to explore, making this unpopular among players. However, the boss is one of the toughest in the game and may provide you with rare loot. There’ll be barely any place to run around, so again we recommend avoiding this dungeon until you’re prepared. Otherwise, get a group of friends to help you conquer its stressful challenges.

Ruined Citadel

Cataclysm Ruined Citadel

Unlike the other dungeons, this one is only found after defeating the Ender Dragon in the End dimension. These are called Ruined Citadels, extremely huge structures with the most rooms compared to other kinds. There’ll be lots of new mobs and the main boss somewhere within its walls. Additionally, expect many chests and areas of interest that’ll provide you with the best loot in Minecraft. This will be difficult to locate, but well worth the effort after you’ve defeated its boss.

Boss Types

Cataclysm Bosses

As for the kinds of bosses to encounter, there are six of them. These include Ender Golem, Netherite Monstrosity, The Harbinger, Ender Guardian, Ignis, and Ignited Revenant. Most of these creatures are large and extremely powerful, as they may have different phases and abilities. Whether you get launched into the air or slammed with force, there’s always something up their sleeves. There are other mobs too, such as Endermapteras and Nameless Sorcerers that may appear throughout your adventures. This depends on which dimension and dungeon you’re inside in the server. Regardless of what boss you’re fighting, remember that they’re all powerful monsters. Make sure to have lots of healing items, armor, tools, and weapons for this intense battle.

Lootable Items

Upon slaying a few bosses in your world, new items will drop from them. These are either unique weapons or materials, such as Monstrous Horns, Iginitium Ingots, or custom music discs. It depends on how lucky you are, as some will be better than others. However, all of these are valuable and only obtainable by slaying bosses in dungeons. Each item will be glowing after it’s been dropped, so make sure to pick it up quickly before it disappears or gets destroyed.

Cataclysm Mod Abilities

After collecting some special weapons and tools, you can begin using their powers. For example, Void Cores allows the player to blast a wall of ender material at enemies. This cannot be entirely spammed, as there’s a cooldown. This concept applies to swords, hammers, gauntlets, and armor too. In other words, all these custom items will have unique abilities for you to try out.

Remember, grabbing ingots after slaying bosses is how you’ll craft some equipment. Otherwise, you might randomly get it from the boss itself.

New Building Blocks

Instead of gathering equipment, builders may want to steal some special blocks from dungeons. These include Obsidian Bricks, Void Stone, or Polished End Stone, among others. Some are craftable too, like Chorus Planks from the widely available fruit in the End dimension. This gives you the ability to always have building blocks on hand while traveling in this void world. Alternatively, the other materials can add extra details to your bases.

Mechanical Fusion Anvil

Cataclysm Mechanical Fusion Anvil

If you’re wanting more powerful equipment, then consider crafting a Mechanical Fusion Anvil. This requires 6x Witherite Ingots, 2x Redstone Blocks, and 1x Anvil. The first set of materials will be the most difficult task to complete, as you can only obtain them from killing bosses. Remember, all their item drops are randomized so it’ll take some time to collect enough.

Once you have them and open this unique anvil’s menu, combining weapons and armor with other types is possible. For example, Ignitium Chestplate can merge with an Elytra to give you more strength and the ability to fly in-game.

Dungeon Adventures

Cataclysm Mod Gameplay

While fighting bosses and exploring new dungeons, you’ll begin noticing similarities from Minecraft Dungeons in the world. Whether its unique abilities or how these structures are designed, L_Ender’s Cataclysm mod takes heavy inspiration from this game. We highly advise playing with friends to get the most out of the experience, especially when slaying bosses. However, there won’t be multiple item drops from bosses so it may feel limiting. Fortunately, you can configure this modification to your liking by reviewing the subsection below.

Configuration

As hinted above, you can completely control how these dungeons, bosses, and items behave in-game. This requires you to tweak the mod’s configuration file from the FTP panel, which has a built-in editor to make this process easier. The instructions below guides you through the needed steps to make your desired changes.

  1. Navigate towards the FTP File Access area and use your login credentials accordingly.
  2. Once logged in, head towards the config directory from the list.
    Minecraft Forge Config
  3. Afterward, press Edit on the cataclysm.toml file to reveal its contents.
    Cataclysm Config
  4. Make any desired changes, then click Save at the top.
    Cataclysm Mod Settings
  5. Restart the server from the main panel to apply these edits.

Common Issues

Unable to Join Server

In most cases, players will be unable to join the server due to a few reasons. One of these is failing to enter a valid IP Address:Port or Subdomain when making the connection. Make sure everyone is typing the correct characters for this process, as even one error can result in this situation. Fortunately, you can verify this information from the main panel near the top. Besides this, another common issue to encounter is having an incorrectly configured Minecraft launcher. Ensure L_Ender’s Cataclysm and its dependency mod, Citadel, are properly installed. Additionally, double check Forge with the right game version is enabled too on the client so everything works.

Cataclysm isn’t Working

Occasionally, the server itself will not work properly or may have missing features in-game. The first situation happens when you’ve either failed to install Forge on the panel or incorrectly uploaded the modifications. Double check you’ve selected the correct server type and version from the Game File area, then confirm all files were transferred in the mods directory. Afterward, make sure to generate a new world to have all dungeons loaded in the map. If the situation is persisting, then confirm you’ve also installed the dependency mod. Alternatively, consider creating a new Server Profile to avoid any conflict from pre-existing files.
