Getting Started
Upon joining the server, players will need to click Close
on the popup message regarding the premium version of the mod. This provides even more dinos in Minecraft but costs money. Besides this, you and others alike may notice minor changes such as new blocks. This depends on your spawn point but is easily found once you mine in caves. It’s encouraged to install the JEI mod before you collect resources and craft basic tools, as it’ll come in handy for JurassiCraft’s recipes. For instance, there are lots of blocks to make so you can start hatching dinosaurs in Minecraft. This is an involved process, which can be tedious to accomplish. We recommend using cheats or operator permissions if you’re having trouble. Otherwise, review the information and subsections below to get started with the JurassiCraft mod.
The first step towards making dinos in your world is finding fossils. These come in many shapes and sizes within cave systems, occasionally found near the surface. In most situations, players will stumble upon them deep within the world. As for their appearances, they may generate as blobs or squiggly lines with other patterns too. It can be hard to miss in dark environments, so make sure to have some torches or other light sources available.
Upon finding a fossil, avoid breaking it since a special item is required beforehand.
The unique item used for collecting fossils is called Plaster and Bandages, which is used to wrap around the block. Simply right-click
this while holding it out, then you can begin mining. Gathering the materials needed to craft plaster and bandages involve you collecting paper, wool, and gypsum powder, only attainable after breaking its block form. It’s strongly encouraged to save up all these items in preparation for obtaining fossils in Minecraft.
This is amplified by the amount of them you need for bringing back dinosaurs, as it’s a lot.
How to Make Dinosaurs
This entire process can be challenging, as you’re essentially extracting DNA from the fossils and perfecting it so eggs can be created. In other words, there are many steps involved to complete this goal. Remember, you can use the JEI mod to help with crafting recipes since many craftable machines are required. With this in mind, the subsections below will guide you through everything to get dinos in Minecraft.
Fossil Preparations
Transforming your fossils into actual bones involves using a Cleaning Station. This interactive block requires water to power it online, so make sure to have plenty of liquid nearby. Its process is similar to smelting food, so be certain there are plenty of fossils for this process. However, it’s technically possible to make dinos with a few bones instead of large quantities of them.
Once you’ve gathered enough bones, craft a Fossil Grinder to begin smashing them up. This provides you with soft tissue from your deceased dinosaur, laying the groundwork for its rebirth. In some cases, you may get bone meal or flint instead since fossils aren’t always perfect. This means you’ll want plenty of resources prepared for your adventure with dinosaurs in Minecraft, especially when making more of them.
If you don’t have a sufficient amount or get extremely unlucky, then head back to your mine(s) to collect more fossils.
Extracting DNA
Continuing with this process, you’ll want to build a DNA Sequencer to extract everything you need from the soft tissue. However, players also need to Empty Storage Discs to correctly store the information. Once you’ve gathered everything, begin placing them accordingly in the GUI menu and wait. It’ll take a short time for this to finish, which will return random DNA qualities in the discs.
The best is 100%, meaning it’s ready to be used for later. If you don’t get this perfect quality, then another item is required.
Using a DNA Combinator-Hybridizer allows you and others alike to combine previously created DNA filled storage discs. Remember, this is only required if the quality isn’t perfect. It’ll take a short time for this to complete but is well worth the effort. Although, you may need to continue doing this until the quality is at 100%. If players don’t reach this DNA level, then it’d be impossible to create dinos in Minecraft. Alternatively, using cheats can bypass this tedious portion of the process if you want.
DNA Synthesizing
Afterward, you can use a DNA Synthesizer to begin getting everything ready for the next steps. This involves you having an Empty Test Tube and Nucleotides, along with your perfect storage disc. Similar to other blocks, this acts as if you’re smelting items. Place them accordingly and wait for it to finish, then take your filled up vile of dino DNA.
It’s encouraged to have many of these synthesizers since only one disc can be used at a time.
Creating Embryos
An incredibly important aspect for creating dinosaurs in Minecraft is making embryos, involving the Embryonic Machine. Additionally, have your dino DNA on hand with an Empty Petri Dish and Empty Syringe so everything works out. Essentially, this portion of the process is the final step to preparing your dinosaur egg. It’s also recommended that multiple embryonic machines are used since the production of them is low.
Dedicated areas in your Minecraft world are perfect for this, such as laboratories or factories.
Embryo Calcifying
As for making your eggs, an Embryo Calcification Machine is needed, along with a standard chicken egg. Remember, these creatures are closely related to each other! Besides this, simply place the filled DNA syringe accordingly and wait for everything to wrap up. This shouldn’t take too long unless you want countless dinosaur eggs. Remember, only one slot is available in these machines.
Using Incubators
When you’re finally finished with all the above steps, you can create an Incubator to begin hatching dino eggs in Minecraft. Unfortunately, this is the longest part of the entire process. In other words, you and others alike will need to wait a few minutes. Luckily, there are plenty of slots for your eggs to be hatched. This means extra machines aren’t necessarily required, but always helps.
Before anything happens, you’ll need to collect some Peat Moss for the substrate so it functions properly.
While in the GUI menu of an incubator machine, you’ll see five available slots with one for the substrate materials. Simply place everything accordingly, then use the sliders to determine the dinosaur’s gender. Breaking this down is straightforward, with the red color being male and yellow for female. If you configure this to be in the middle, then it’ll be randomized instead. Wait a few minutes and watch its progression in the bars below.
Types of Dinosaurs
As for the unique kinds of dinosaurs to hatch, you have several options. These are Brachiosaurus, Coelacanth, Dilophosaurus, Gallimimus, Microraptor, Mussaurus, Parasaurolophus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus, and Velociraptor. Whether you want large or small dinos in Minecraft, there are many of them to try out. Keep in mind that players can breed them with unique items and other materials from the JurassiCraft mod.
It’s highly recommended to explore these options in creative mode or with JEI to see what else is possible.
Additional Features
This mod provides you with endless possibilities, as it’s not only dinosaurs. Remember, this is inspired by the Jurassic Park movies. This means you’re given vehicles, unique blocks, and tools to build an entire habitat for these creatures. It’ll take to fully understand them all, so we suggest visiting their Discord server to learn more about everything. Otherwise, playing around in-game is another way to start using these additional features from the mod.
Common Issues
Remember, you and others alike must install Forge on the Minecraft launcher before joining the server. This is required to have mod support, making it possible for your connection to be accepted. Afterward, try again, and if it continues, then double check you’ve successfully installed the modification files accordingly. These are supposed to be stored in the local mods
directory from the game files, including their dependency. Similar solutions are also applicable for the server, as Forge and its modifications follow a similar pattern. If you’re crashing or encountering other issues related to a rejected connection, then consider reaching out to our Support Team for more assistance.
While in your Minecraft world and fossils aren’t appearing in caves, then you may need to generate a new map. This mod directly impacts the generation of everything, including adding more ores for extra items. With this in mind, it’s required that a new world is created or you can alternatively explore new chunks/regions to see fossils. Otherwise, you may need to continue searching in-game for them if everything is correctly configured.
In some cases, your dino eggs cannot hatch in the incubator machines. This tends to happen when you’ve forgotten about the substrate material, peat moss blocks. Make sure to have enough of these items so you can properly hatch your dinosaur eggs without further issues. Otherwise, this could mean your mod’s version is broken and needs to be fixed by the developer(s). However, this situation may be caused by impatience. Remember, it takes a long time for these eggs to hatch, so consider waiting a little bit more before trying out other fixes.
