While adventuring in your Vanilla Minecraft server, the world and its materials can become too predictable. This can lead some players to desire changes that’ll enhance the gameplay for them. These can include better enchantments, secret dungeons, or new items. Fortunately, an all-in-one Forge modification introduces all of these features, which is known as Apotheosis. Playing with this mod allows you to find special weapons, bows, tools, and armor all around the world. There’s even boss fights to enjoy, rewarding users with powerful gear that defeat the creature. Leap into a brand new journey with your friends on a server to experience an enhanced version of Minecraft. Setting this up is easily done in our panel, but some new owners could be unfamiliar with our system. Due to this, we’ve created this Apex Hosting guide to show you how to install and play the Apotheosis mod in your Minecraft server.

Upon joining the server, there won’t be any noticeable differences compared to Vanilla Minecraft. However, as you play normally there will be unique aspects that completely enhance the gameplay. Whether you’ve found a rare sword with special abilities or fighting a boss in a dungeon, there are tons of possibilities. Before leaping into a brand new adventure, you’ll want to collect basic resources and craft some equipment to prepare yourself.
Depending on your installed modifications, some players may notice a special book in their inventory after entering the world. This is known as the Chronicle of Shadows, a guide for Apotheosis that provides you with detailed information about all its features. It’s broken down into modules, such as Adventure or Enchanting, which have subcategories about specific aspects. We’ll review the most important details about this mod in the subsections below, but using this book is an in-game option to learn more about Apotheosis.
One of the most exciting features from this mod is the enchantments, as there are tons of unique and interesting abilities to try out. These can exceed default levels, meaning a pickaxe can have efficiency six or more. Besides this, there can be custom enchants like Boon Of The Earth that allows players to find ores within normal stone blocks. Whether you’re enchanting weapons, tools, or armor, there will always be a chance for these powers.
However, you’ll need to craft some special bookshelves before obtaining such abilities on your equipment. These range from Nether to End-like blocks with their own recipes, granting your enchantment table Eterna, Quanta, and/or Arcana levels. This depends on the type of bookshelf used, as each one has different values per type. It’s strongly recommended to install JEI if you haven’t already, as this provides you a means to easily look up the crafting recipes for the blocks.
Instead of trying to enchant gear, anyone can stumble upon unique equipment in loot chests around the world. This applies to villages, mineshafts, strongholds, among other naturally spawning structures. Once an item has been located, it’ll have predetermined abilities while holding or wearing it. Additionally, some of these will have effects after being damaged, such as regeneration. It’s worth noting that there are several tiers for them: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Mythic, and Ancient. Each of these rarities have certain colors, with cyan being the best.
Throughout your adventures in the world, you and others will encounter custom mobs. These are called bosses, as they have increased health, damage, and enchanted gear. However, normal hostile creatures can sometimes have powerful weapons or armor, but lack other boss-like features. Make sure to arm yourself with strong equipment and health potions or golden apples, as fighting these undead monsters will be tough. Additionally, the boss’s name above its head determines the difficulty level. This mimics the tiers as mentioned above, with cyan-colored mobs being the hardest. Fortunately, after defeating one you’ll collect one of their special items. This is a wonderful way to get rare or better tools, swords, bows, or armor pieces.
There are new structures from Apotheosis that contain valuable items in its chest, but have mob spawners on top of it with crying obsidian. These tend to spawn dangerous monsters with special effects, such as pillagers with fire resistance. Be cautious as you explore caves, as there can be any of these around the corner.
Once you’ve defeated the mobs and broke the spawner, you can occasionally obtain crystals from the chest that are used for powering your gear. There can be other items too, such as mythic or common equipment.
In addition to finding spawners, players may encounter dungeons in cave systems. These guarantee a boss fight, but typically rewards you with incredible gear. In some cases, users can get unlucky with the chest loot, but the creature’s item drop is valuable to make up for the loss. Besides this, these secret dungeons are difficult to locate in the world.
They tend to be found near mineshafts or ancient cities, but can sometimes randomly generate elsewhere. Similarly to other boss fights, ensure you’re geared up before taking arms against the undead.
Once you’ve obtained weapons, tools, or armor, you can use gem dust and rarity material in a reforger to increase its level. This serves as another way to “enchant” gear, as it’ll apply unique powers to the piece of equipment. Remember, using the JEI mod is how you can easily find the recipe for this reforge tool. However, you’ll need a Salvaging Table to dismantle a tier item to obtain its material for this process.
As for gems, you can find them throughout the world in lootable chests. Breaking them down like an item is how you collect its dust form to use.
There are useful items with specific effects that mimic potions, but are always active until their durability is depleted. These are known as Charms, which are crafted with three potions and six blaze powder. Once you’ve crafted on, simply hold it in your hand and
right-click to trigger the effect on your character. These items can truly help you defeat bosses or fight enemy players, as you won’t need to drink any potions.
There are many other features from the Apotheosis mod, which are inside the Chronicles of Shadows book. However, some of these include the ability to create powerful arrows in a Fletching Table, finding better trades in a wandering trader, and sugar cane growing super tall. These are subtle details that enhance Minecraft’s experience for all players. This can significantly help farmers and players wanting the best available trades.
If you’re wanting to tweak some of these features from the mod, then editing its configuration file is required. They’re broken down into individual documents for each module, such as Adventure and Spawner. However, the main file is simply the modification’s title that contains general settings. Follow the instructions below to begin reviewing how to do this process correctly.
- Head towards the
FTP File Accessarea and
- Once there, enter the following pathway: …/config/apotheosis.
- While inside this directory, locate your desired file and press
Editon the right.
- Make your desired changes in the editor, then click
Saveat the top.
- Return to your panel and
Restartthe server to apply the edits.
In some cases, the modification will not load or fully work on the server. This happens for a few reasons, with missing dependencies being a common one. Make sure to have downloaded and installed Placebo and Patchouli for the best results. However, the last mod isn’t required for Apotheosis to work properly, but does allow players to use the Chronicles of Shadows book. Although, if the server itself isn’t using Forge in the Game File section, then it’ll result in a failed installation. If you’ve installed everything and the server still doesn’t work, make sure you’ve generated a new world since it impacts terrain/item generation. Additionally, using a new Server Profile is highly recommended so no file conflicts occur from the FTP panel. As for the launcher, make sure you’ve installed the latest Forge version to support the modifications. Occasionally, you may have to switch the type used for this process to see if that’ll work instead.
While editing the mod’s configuration files, make sure you’re clicking the
Save button at the top. Afterward,
Restart the server to apply the changes. However, you’ll need to ensure the edits are valid and don’t have any errors. In other words, avoid misspelling words, removing spaces, or missing specific characters. It’s strongly suggested to follow the same format as in the file since that’s needed for the settings to work properly.
Another common issue players encounter is being unable to join the server. This normally happens when they enter an incorrect server address, so double-check the IP Address:Port or Subdomain used for this connection. Otherwise, not having the modifications installed properly on the launcher can result in the same situation. In this scenario, a mismatched mod channel list error will appear in-game when trying to join. Solving this requires the impacted player to reinstall the mods with all their dependencies and correct versions on the client. However, it’s equally possible that the server lacks these modifications and triggers the same message.
On rare occasions, the server will crash due to ticking entities or poor performance. Fixing this can be difficult, but reviewing our Modded Optimization Guide will provide you with lots of solutions. Besides this, restoring the world through the panel will likely resolve the situation. This sadly reverts progress, but permits you to take precautionary measures to prevent any more crashes. As for the launcher, allocating more memory to it will ensure everything loads without issues. However, this problem may persist from using mismatched mod versions.
