Overview
There are many ways to play Minecraft, from fighting intense battles to peacefully farming. Some players may not want too much action, especially if they rather enjoy simple gameplay. This can be done in Vanilla Minecraft, but lacks overall content. Fortunately, using mods can enhance the gameplay experience for anyone. These can be combined into modpacks, large collections of modifications to completely redesign the game. One of these is known as Farming Valley, an adventure that leads you to make an entire town, complete quests from a goddess, and so much more. Using this on your server to enjoy with others is highly suggested, as every user has an important role throughout the journey. There’s hardly any combat, but there are plenty of new mobs, items, and materials to keep you preoccupied. Setting this up is straightforward, but newcomers can be slightly confused at first. Due to this, we’ll show you how to install and play the Farming Valley modpack on your Minecraft server in this Apex Hosting guide.
Summary
The Farming Valley modpack was developed by Kehaan and published on CurseForge in 2016 for Minecraft 1.10.2. Over time, this pack collected over 2.2 million downloads with regular updates. The main premise is building a farming community with NPCs and the goddess’s help. There are four seasons with unique crops for each one, but make sure to harvest them all to sell for money.

Getting Started
Entering your world with the modpack enabled, you’ll notice major differences from normal Minecraft. This is due to the unique creatures, biomes, sky, vegetation, and lots of other aspects. When viewing your inventory, you’ll see multiple books to read through. These will greatly help you get started building a farming town. However, there are a few tricks to keep in mind.
The first one is to keep and review the Task Book in your inventory, as this provides you with detailed information on what to expect. Using this will guide you along the journey, but they aren’t entirely quests. For example, you can start checking the boxes right away without doing them. Besides this, there’s a Guide Book to use later on after you’ve collected some resources.
The First Steps
Starting off your new adventure requires you to collect some basic resources, mainly Iron Ingots. These materials will be used to create a Bucket, which needs to be filled with water. This portion of the gameplay is standard, as you’ll need to break trees, craft a pickaxe, then set off to mine minerals. There are plenty of resources to collect, so make sure to have chests to store them all. Once you’ve obtained a Water Bucket, you’re ready to begin the first steps.
Harvest Goddess
After obtaining useful and essential resources, it’s time to begin activating the Harvest Goddess. This NPC will guide you through the adventure and provide Blueprints for your town. There are a few steps to get started with this process, which is down below. However, make sure to interact with her after you’re finished since it’ll trigger a small quest.
- Obtain the following: 3x Flowers, 1x Flower Pot, 1x Stick, and 2x Water Bucket.
- Afterward, locate a flat area and make two holes with a block in the middle.
- Proceed to fill each hole with your water buckets.
- Place one flower at the top of the middle block and another at the bottom.
- Put the flower pot in the middle, then add your last flower inside of it.
- Right-click the pot with your stick to get a new flower.
- Once obtained, drop it in one of the water holes.
- If successful, the Harvest Goddess will appear for you to spark dialogue.
Blueprint Building
After summoning the goddess, talking with her reveals you need two dozen logs. This is required to obtain your first blueprint, so start mining trees down to complete the quest. Once you’ve collected enough, either summon or talk to her again for the reward. When you have the blueprint, right-click
it in your hand at the spot you want the house. Afterward, shift
+ right-click
to confirm the placement so an NPC can begin building it. The process itself may take some time, as each block must be individually placed by the character.
Expanding the Village
Continue to use your Task Book to know what else needs to be done, then proceed collecting blueprints from the Harvest Goddess. This is how you and others can expand the town, including the NPCs. After progressing far enough, you’ll notice unique items are being gifted to you. These can include Watering Cans and Hardy Turnip Seeds to start your farm.
However, there’s one important NPC to always have in your town. This is a Blacksmith, giving you the chance to sell and buy important items or materials to continue advancing in the journey. There’s also a General Store that mimics the same concept, but with different resources. Although, other NPCs will become available that’ll give you more quests and knowledge about farming.
Common Issues
Modpack Isn’t Working
In cases where the modpack isn’t loading on the server, make sure you’ve selected the correct Farming Valley pack in the Game File section. There are multiple types of it, which may cause the situation. Otherwise, you may have to create a new Server Profile to do the installation. This will create a new directory to store all the files for the modpack, giving you the best odds to get everything functioning properly.
The World is Wrong
Upon selecting the modpack in the Game File area of your panel, make sure to click Create New World
in the following prompt. This comes after the Change Version
option, which can be easily overlooked. Once this is done, Restart
the server so the new world can generate without further troubles. Otherwise, you can see about uploading the map from singleplayer to achieve the same goal.
