With so many mods available for Minecraft, it can be difficult to find a modpack with all of your favorites. Luckily, there are large modpacks available that include a variety of mods to fit every kind of player. One of the most popular of these kitchen sink packs is All the Mods 6. ATM6 includes all of the most popular mods available for Minecraft 1.16.5 packaged to suit players of any skill level or playstyle. Getting Started

The Akashic Tome

Akashic Tome menu

When you first join the game you will receive an Akashic Tome. When you right-click on the book, you will be given the option to change the tome into any of the other guides available in this pack. There are a lot of different guides to choose from, but we strongly recommend changing it into a Quest Book. The most important mechanics in the modpack can be learned and tracked by completing quests.

If you have lost your inventory to an unfortunate spelunking accident, or if you just want one of the other guides, you can easily craft a new Tome to use. Drop a stick into any crafting table as shown in the recipe above. You will be able to create a new tome to grab any of the guides you may need.

Quest Book

Quest book menu while in use

ATM6 makes use of the FTB Quests mod to help new players learn the ins and outs of playing with this modpack. There is a questline available for each of the main mods featured in the pack. This is also a good way to get familiar with some of the popular mods like Astral Sorcery that can be found in a large number of modpacks.

Quests are tracked via the Quest Book item. This item is easy to get either from an Akashic Tome or from combining a book with any kind of stone block as shown in the recipe above. Once you have a quest book you can right click on it to open the quest menu. From there you can click on any of the quest bubbles to get more information about the tasks and mechanics involved. You can also choose from the variety of questlines by clicking on the menu on the left side of the screen.

Features

There is a lot to do and explore in ATM6. There are quests you can pursue, but the pack was designed to be open-ended. The sky is the limit when it comes to gameplay. We recommend starting the same way you would a normal game of Survival. Build a small base, get some basic materials, then take a look at some of the features below to decide what to do next.

Botania

The portal to Alfheim from Botania

Botania is a very unique mod that adds a lot of new mechanics to the game. The mod is presented as a natural magic mod, but it is focused on building complex machines and large resource farms similar to Immersive Engineering. The mod adds many new flowers, enchantments, and energy sources to be used in your most complex contraptions.

The mod comes with its own guide book and questline to follow and learn how to use the mod. The guide book can be crafted from a book and any flower as shown in the recipe above. More information and guides can also be found on the FTB wiki.

Create

Create mod preview

Create is one of the most popular, and expansive, engineering mods currently available for the game. It offers a large selection of tools and blocks for Building, Decoration, and Aesthetic Automation. It is regularly updated with new machines and tools thanks to the large dedicated development team. Create has more features than can be covered in a single summary or guide. Luckily, the creators of the mod have a series of video tutorials that showcase the many different features it adds to the game.

Pam’s Harvestcraft

Apples from Pam's Harvestcraft

Possibly the most popular series of agriculture and food mods available, Pam’s Harvestcraft will drastically change the way you manage your hunger. The mods add over a thousand new items for you to farm and cook with. You will be able to harvest hundreds of unique plants and new food sources scattered throughout the world. You can refine your new ingredients to make juice, sandwiches, pastries, and hundreds of unique meals. We have a complete guide on how to get started with Pam’s Harvestcraft here.

Mekanism

Robit companion from Mekanism
Scuba helmet from Mekanism

Mekanism is an expansive engineering mod that adds hundreds of new machines and mechanics to the game. The goal of the mod is to revolutionize the technical aspects of the game by bringing more efficient resource management and new technology for you to play with. You can create jet packs, scuba suits, robotic companions, and compact automated farms. The mod also has a well maintained wiki with a full list of features and guides to using the different mechanics.

Minecolonies

Backpack recipe

Minecolonies is a fun mod for people that enjoy city building. It is central to the Life in the Village series of modpacks. The focus of the mod is to build your own burgeoning city in the vast world of the game. You can build a town, attract villagers, assign jobs, and construct a large number of unique production buildings. Just be sure to train and equip plenty of guards. You will need them to protect your citizens and your hard earned loot from mobs and the occasional raid.

Lootr

A builder from the Minecolonies mod hard at work

Lootr is a simple mod designed for Multiplayer servers. You will notice it working almost immediately when you start a new world with this modpack. Every chest in the world will now be embellished with gold trim and have unique loot for each player that opens it. You will no longer have to worry about a desert temple being looted by someone else, as every player will get something different when they open the chest. Chests you have already opened will change from gold to silver so you will always know if you have visited a place before.

Tips and Tricks

  • The pack adds a lot of useful commands via the FTB Essentials mod. Check the mod’s wiki page to learn how to set your nickname and easily teleport home.
  • Build a storage system early on. Many of the new buildings and machines will need very large amounts of basic materials like stone, dirt, and wood.
  • A backpack is easy to make and expand. It has tons of uses and is an easy way to expand your inventory early on.

  • Follow the recipe shown above to create one, then keep it stocked with extra food, torches, and tools.

Conclusion

With the help of this guide you are now ready to start and play on your own ATM6 server. All the Mods 6 may not actually have all of the mods available for Minecraft, but it does have all of the most popular ones. The modpack features a good balance of tech, agriculture, magic, and exploration mods. It is a good all around pack for every player and play style. We have only gone over some of the most prominent mods featured in the pack, but there are 300 others to explore and experiment with.

Common Issues

My server/game is lagging
ATM6 is a pretty large modpack. The developers have put a lot of work into optimizing it, but following the recommendations in our Modded Optimization Guide will help further improve performance.

We also recommend increasing the amount of RAM used by the CurseForge app. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the Settings icon in the bottom left corner of the app.
  2. Choose Minecraft from the options on the left side of the menu
Allocating more RAM to the game
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and find the Allocated Memory option.
  4. Use the slider to increase your Allocated Memory to at least 6000mb or higher

I am getting a ‘mismatched mod channel list’ error
This error most often happens because the mods on your server and the ones on your computer do not match. Make sure you have the exact same modpack installed on both devices before attempting to join. If you recently updated the modpack on your computer, make sure it is also updated on your Server. You can update your server by following our guide here.

I am getting a ‘fatally missing registry entries’ error:

Much like the error above, this happens because the config files on your server do not match the ones on your computer. If you haven’t already, make sure that the server and your computer are both running the latest version of the modpack. If you had a different pack previously installed, there may be some leftover config files on the server causing the problem. To fix this issue, go to FTP File Access as though you were going to update the pack. Delete the config, mods, jar, and kubejs folders if they are present. Restart the server and the correct files will be installed for you.
