Overview
Enchanting equipment in Minecraft allows you to create powerful gear to fight other players or slay the undead. Unfortunately, there are limited levels that you can use for each item. The maximum one for many enchants are 5, which isn’t too high at all. This can become troublesome for servers or players looking for overpowered fights, especially in Prison or KitPvP gamemodes. Luckily, you can easily solve this by using the EnhancedEnchants Spigot plugin, which allows everyone to exceed vanilla enchantment limits. Using this is completely customizable, as you’re given the ability to control every single aspect for it. Whether you’re wanting to set a new maximum limit or disable a particular power, it’s all easily done through commands and the plugin’s settings. Installing this only takes a few minutes and is simplified through our panel design. With this in mind, we’ve created this Apex Hosting tutorial to showcase the EnhancedEnchants plugin and how to install it on your Minecraft server.

Getting Started
Once the plugin is installed, walk towards your enchantment area with books or items in your inventory. Make sure to have enough experience points (XP), as you’ll want to enchant them all. This will provide you with the means to combine them into a powerful enchantment, exceeding the vanilla limits. However, this process requires anvils and will cost even more XP to use. Building mob farms will greatly increase your ability to produce high level powers, as this plugin permits you to infinitely combine enchantments. This is configurable in the plugin settings and commands, which we’ll discuss in later sections below.
Combining Enchantments
The process for making higher leveled enchantments is the exact same for making vanilla ones, meaning you take two identical books/items and place them into an anvil. This can be any type of enchant, such as protection or sharpness. Due to the plugin’s default options, the power of this can be overwhelmingly high.
For example, a player can create an efficiency 100 pickaxe if they want. Whether you use books or items for this process, the combination of them always return an increased enchantment level.
Command List
By default, all players can use the plugin as intended due to the enhancedenchants.use permission node being assigned to them. However, if you’re wanting to tweak some settings, then using the following commands is required. These are only for server operators or ranks/players with the correct permissions from your managing plugin, such as LuckPerms. For example, you can set the max repair cost or toggle item-to-item enchantment combination. Review the list below to fully understand all the available commands to try out.
Command | Permission | Description |
---|---|---|
/enhancedenchants maxrepaircost [value] | enhancedenchants.admin | Sets the max repair/enchant cost amount for combining books or items. |
/enhancedenchants bookonbook [true/false] | enhancedenchants.admin | Toggles if players can combine enchanted books in anvils. |
/enhancedenchants bookonitem [true/false] | enhancedenchants.admin | Enable or disable enchanted books being used on items in an anvil. |
/enhancedenchants itemonitem [true/false] | enhancedenchants.admin | Toggles if players can combine enchanted items in anvils. |
/enhancedenchants reload | enhancedenchants.admin | Applies any changes made in the configuration. |
Configuration
As for the other plugin settings, you may access them in the configuration file. This area allows you to manually change how enchantments act in-game. In other words, you can disable a few or set a power limit on them. This is also where you can redefine plugin messages that appear to the player, allowing for more personalization on the server. The instructions below detail how to access, edit, and apply config changes for EnhancedEnchants.
- Log into your
FTP File Access
area from the main server panel. - Proceed to enter the
plugins
directory, then click the EnhancedEnchants folder. - Once there, press the
Edit
button to the far right of the config.yml file. - Make any necessary changes, then click
Save
at the top. - Return to the main panel and
Restart
the server to apply the changes.
Common Issues
In cases where EnhancedEnchants isn’t loading or working, double-check you’ve successfully uploaded the JAR file into the plugins
directory. Remember, this has to reach 100%
for it to be considered installed. However, you’ll need to Restart
the server after you do this process. Assuming everything above is correctly done, you’ll see it begin to work. Although, if the server’s game version doesn’t match the one you downloaded for the plugin, problems may arise.
If you’re unable to use commands, then make sure you’ve set the correct permission nodes and/or become a server operator. Either one is required to resolve the situation, as default players cannot use them. Once this is properly set up, you’ll be able to use commands without problems. However, you may always edit the configuration file to apply your desired changes. If you decide on doing this, then make sure to Save
and Restart
the server afterward.
