Overview
Minecraft doesn’t have a storyline by default, besides defeating the Ender Dragon in the End. Disregarding this, the gameplay infinitely goes on without any primary goals to complete. This can make some players frustrated, especially those that enjoy long-lasting adventures. Luckily, using the DigSite modpack allows you to experience a story-rich journey with many unique aspects. These include tons of exploration, solving puzzles, fighting tough enemies, completing quests, and obtaining sci-fi weapons. The main objective while playing on this modpack is to uncover the truth about the world’s fate, as entire populations have disappeared without a trace. Whether you’re playing with friends or riding solo, this pack offers a lot to enjoy. Installing this is straightforward and easily done in our panel, as it only takes a few minutes. However, getting started might be challenging, so we’ve created this Apex Hosting guide to show you how to install and play through the DigSite modpack on your Minecraft server.
Summary
The DigSite modpack was created by TherealWideblaze and released on CurseForge in 2019 for Minecraft 1.12.2. Over the years, it obtained ~138,000 downloads with even popular YouTuber, CaptainSparklez, enjoying the experience. There are plenty of quests, fights, secrets, puzzles, and adventures to try out. Getting Started
Upon loading into the world, you’ll be greeted with a tent and an NPC. This area will be your main base of operations for the meantime, so make note of your surroundings and coordinates. Collecting resources is what you’ll want to do for your first task, as you need supplies. However, walking inside the tent reveals a chest full of leather armor. Take a few pieces to protect yourself against possible attacks. Afterward, you’ll want to open the book in your hotbar that should automatically be there upon first joining the server.
Once you’ve right-clicked
on the book, it’ll open a GUI menu to request you join a team. This is how you and other players can participate in the same quests. If you’re a solo adventurer, then simply select the Wideblaze option. This will assign you onto that team, which is required to begin your early quests to start the DigSite modpack. Whether you created a custom one or joined the default type, other players can become a member or switch between them at any time.
Early Quests
When you’re assigned to a team, right-click
the NPC at your base camp. This opens a dialogue prompt to accept your first quests. After completing the discussion, open your inventory and press the top right book icon. This reveals your quest log, full of the active missions to finish. Review the information for your desired adventure, then set off to tackle it. However, you can complete other activities from your book in the inventory, as it contains objectives to finish for rewards. We’ll briefly go through the first two quests to get you started.
LucVille
The easiest quest to complete first is walking towards LucVille, the village nearest to your campsite. This area has valuables to loot and villagers to interact with, which triggers a new adventure for you. Reading about it in your quest log reveals the main quest, uncovering the truth about the world. It’ll only be completed after the story concludes, so don’t expect an easy objective. However, remember to collect LucVille’s valuable resources to help you along the journey.
Abandoned Mine
The second quest to go through is exploring the Abandoned Mine, far right of your campsite. This area is dangerous, as there are undead creatures roaming underneath the sand. Later on in the mine’s chambers, there are puzzles and secrets to find. Although, make sure to have armor and weapons to protect yourself against any hostile threat. Besides enemies, there’s plenty of loot to grab and use for better equipment.
Other Areas
After exploring the world and completing quests, you’ll notice many areas of interest to find. These can be simple villages surrounding your campsite, or mysterious structures with hostile enemies ready to hurt you. Don’t stray too far from your main objective, as you’ll likely fail due to missing story requirements. Once you’ve obtained enough resources and information, continue progressing through these locations in the world.
Location Portals
After finishing some quests and fully exploring specific locations, you’ll occasionally see a portal gateway. The first one is found after running through the Abandoned Mine, so make sure to find it. After entering a portal, you’ll be transported to the Portal Chamber. This room gives you access to all unlocked locations in the world, making it easier to navigate back and forth during the story. It’ll even have your spawn point in one of the gateways, which comes in handy when you need to talk with the first NPC to learn more information.
Endgame
Later on in the story, you’ll notice more and more sci-fi aspects. These include full laboratories, terminals, and countless soldiers to slay. Be cautious though, as you’ll encounter a boss fight at some point in the adventure. Remember, there are plenty of resources to collect throughout the gameplay to prepare you for the fight. Using your quest log and book will help you a lot, especially when you’re nearing the end of DigSite’s storyline.
Common Issues
Having issues loading the modpack is likely due to an incorrect installation. This can occur on both the server and client, which requires a reinstallation to resolve the problem. Simply delete the files and download them back to get everything working. On servers, you may want to select a different game file, then reselect DigSite to get it back. Otherwise, manually installing the pack is another fix you can try.
If you’ve loaded into the server and the world isn’t as described in this guide, then redo the installation on the panel. This is required, as the system preloads the world after you select the appropriate option in the prompt. Sometimes, owners don’t choose to use this map and this results in the problem. However, loading into Singleplayer and uploading that world into the server is an option. Follow this tutorial if you’re wanting to do that type of process.
