Dungeons and Taverns Mod

Overview

Exploring your Minecraft world with friends can turn into a wild adventure, especially with all the different kinds of naturally generated structures to discover. However, players who’ve already encountered everything may desire new buildings and areas to enjoy. This is primarily accomplished with mods, which introduce exciting features to Minecraft. One of these is known as Dungeons and Taverns for Forge or Fabric, providing you with tons of new structures to explore. There’ll be lots of loot for players to take, spanning across enchanted gear to valuable minerals. Some buildings may be small while others are extremely large, mostly unique to their biomes. Consider setting this up on a dedicated Minecraft server to play with friends, as the entire process is simplified with our panel. This means you don’t need any technical knowledge to begin hosting your modded world, but may confuse newcomers to the scene. Due to this, we’ve created this Apex Hosting guide to show you how to install Dungeons and Taverns in Minecraft.

Getting Started

Dungeons and Taverns

Once you’ve joined the server, you and other players alike may encounter a new structure right off the bat. However, those who aren’t as lucky must find a tavern before exploring the unique buildings. This is due to some important maps that lead you towards them, which are only found in these areas. There are plenty of structures to discover in the Minecraft world with the Dungeons and Taverns mod, including underground or in the Nether dimension. If you’re wanting to quickly find them all, then consider using cheats or operator permissions to run the /locate command. Otherwise, follow the subsections below to learn more about the process to explore everything.

Finding Taverns

Dungeons and Taverns Guide

As hinted above, players need to find taverns before discovering other structures. These are village-like houses with many rooms full of useful resources. Although, one spot contains a chest with 1-3 maps. These are used to help you navigate the world to locate other structures. However, this isn’t entirely necessary since they naturally generate and can be found normally. Whether you want underground or surface exploration, there are always opportunities with this mod.

Keep in mind that these taverns can appear in all sorts of biomes in Minecraft, from birch forests to deserts. This means you and others alike will have plenty of chances to find them. In some cases, they may appear near the spawn point of your world. We strongly recommend exploring the environments around you to find taverns to kick start your adventure. Alternatively, you might just find a unique structure on the horizon instead.

Using Maps

Minecraft Maps

Upon locating the right chest in taverns, you’ll see a couple of maps. These provide you with directions to specific structures, ranging from new illager outposts to ruined towns. Occasionally, they’ll be duplicated maps inside the chest. We encourage you to only take unique kinds, as duped ones won’t show you other buildings. Besides this, there’ll be other items in the chest for you to take such as food or building blocks.

While holding the map in your hand, make note of the white circle on it. This indicates your character’s location in the world, which can be moved depending on your North, South, East, and West movement. Keep this in mind, as you’ll want to move closer toward the red X to find the structure. It’s encouraged to use a compass if you’re having trouble navigating in-game. Once you’ve reached the area, you can toss the map since it no longer proves useful in your adventure.

New Structures

As for all the unique building types from the Dungeons and Taverns mod in Minecraft, there are around 20 or so available. These range from ruined structures to underground dungeons full of loot for the taking. Remember that all of these are primarily found on the maps in taverns, but can be naturally explored by simply walking around in the world. Although, a few of these structures are biome-specific and will not generate elsewhere. Due to this, it can be difficult to encounter them in your Minecraft server or singleplayer map. We’ll show you some examples down below to help you learn more about them all.

Illager Buildings

Dungeons and Taverns Illager

There are several different illager buildings from the mod, with a campsite being a common one to find. This a small location with a few chests to loot, making them not too desirable to players. However, there’s a trapped villager in one of the structures to possibly use for trading. This can come in handy when making a farm for the best deals, popularly used for collecting enchanted books. Besides this, it can be a good starting point for new players in the world.

Another interesting illager building is a badlands miner outpost, full of useful resources. There’ll be tons of hostile mobs, so we strongly recommend having powerful armor and weapons before taking on this challenge. This is amplified by the multiple layers to the base, as you’ll encounter illagers on each floor. Once you defeat them all, make sure to take all the loot from nearby chests, as they may contain unique collectibles. However, finding this structure is hard since it’s biome-specific compared to others.

Ruins & Forts

Dungeons and Taverns Start Fort

Similar to a village, a stray fort is a large area in Minecraft that contains many chests for players to loot. These structures are highly sought after, as they can help you make a wonderful base or be simply used as a landmark in-game. These are mainly found in snowy biomes, which can be problematic for some players. Nonetheless, finding one of these locations in your world is always an enjoyable experience.

Instead of a fortified base, you might find an enormous ruined city in the jungle. This is a biome-specific location but proves to be worthwhile due to its many lootable chests and armor stands. There are tons of buildings and rooms to explore, with some enemies nearby too. Make sure to be well equipped before looking around these parts of your map. Besides this, encountering jungle ruins leaves an awe-inspiring feeling for some due to the size of it.

Underground Areas

Dungeons and Taverns Bunker

In some cases, while you’re mining in caves, stumbling upon a bunker might happen. This is a relatively small enclosed area with several rooms to explore. This isn’t too exciting, but provides you with some extra loot and other resources. Otherwise, it can make for a great starter base if you rather have one underground compared to the surface. Keep in mind that there are hardly any light sources in these structures, so expect hostile mobs.

By far the most popular and highly demanded structure from the mod is undead crypts. These areas are only found underground but are large dungeons full of mob spawners, lootable chests, and valuable resources. This is a wonderful experience with friends, especially if you’re wanting to make a mob farm. The interior design of these undead crypts resembles Minecraft Dungeons, which might be perfect for your setup.

Extra Structures

Dungeons and Taverns Tower
Dungeons and Taverns Nether

There are plenty of other structures to discover in the Minecraft world with the Dungeons and Taverns mod. Whether you want large towers or new Nether fortresses, you have lots of options. Almost all of these will have lootable chests or hostile mobs to slay, making them great for adventuring. Keep in mind that this modification doesn’t introduce new items, blocks, or entities to the game. This means you’ll only find vanilla resources throughout all of these buildings. With this said, we encourage you to take up a torch and find them in your Minecraft server or singleplayer world.

Common Issues

Unable to Join or Launch

In cases where you’re unable to join the server or launch Minecraft, this can be caused by a few reasons. A common one is failing to install the dependency mod, Structure Essentials. Remember, this is required for Dungeons and Taverns to work properly in-game. This applies to both the server and client, making it extremely important. Additionally, make sure to have the correct Forge or Fabric versions installed too. If you’re still unable to launch the game, then consider allocating more memory to the client. On the other hand, if you’re having connectivity issues with the server, then this could indicate an underlying issue on the panel.

My Server is Crashing

Most of the time when players cannot join the server, it’s caused by a crash. This can be confirmed in the console, which can be frustrating to resolve. Due to the mod’s impact on world generation, you might need to remove other modifications that affect it. For example, Biomes O’ Plenty or other popular addons may have unforeseen problems with Dungeons and Taverns. However, it could also mean you failed to install any dependencies and/or used incorrect game versions for the setup. We encourage you to contact our Support Team so they can work with you to find a solution to the situation.

Structures Aren’t Generating

Remember, the Dungeons and Taverns mod impacts the world generation in Minecraft. This means you need to generate a new one before seeing all the unique structures in-game. Whether you’re in singleplayer or multiplayer, this still applies. However, existing worlds can still have these modded buildings, but not in already loaded chunks or regions. In other words, you’ll need to explore farther out in-game to find them.
