Overview
When playing on a Rust server, you may eventually have the desire to keep track of the server’s progress while both online and offline. Introducing the official Rust+ Companion app, a mobile application that provides a variety of tools to make your life easier while playing on a Rust server. Whether you use the built-in map, keep in touch with the teammate text chat, or control your electronics remotely, this is all possible through the Rust+ app. Knowing how to configure and use the Rust+ companion app can be confusing for unfamiliar players, so we have created this Apex Hosting guide to ease you through the setup process.
Accessing Rust+
- Visit the Rust+ Companion app page.
- Select the button for your mobile device’s app store.
- Install the app on your device, then launch it once complete.

This will bring you to the main hub for the app. By default, no servers will be available for use and must be configured.
Linking to a Server
- Launch the Rust application on your computer.
- Join the server you wish to link.

. - You should now receive a mobile notification from the app.
- Open the notification, then select
Pair Server
.
Both the computer game and mobile phone should now be linked, allowing for a variety of adjustments to become available through the mobile app.
Using the Rust+ Mobile App
Now that your app is linked, a variety of tabs are available along the bottom of the application to view or handle the server.
Information Tab
This tab will provide all of the information you may require regarding a paired server. Here you can view the number of players, wipe information, the size of the world, and more.
A snippet of the latest news can also be found by scrolling down on the page.
Map
Within the map section, you can view the full server map, including shops and other important locations. This will prevent the need from opening the in-game map to constantly check your location, as your mobile device can be kept on.
If you are part of a team, the members’ position will be available on the map as well.
Team Chat
Using this chat section, you can maintain contact with team members from in-game and within the app. Plan your movements or simply keep in touch about in-game events using this chat section.
As it is team chat only, other non-teammates cannot view the messages sent within the app.
In-Game Devices
Here you can configure and control any devices added through a smart switch in-game. To start, hold E
on a smart switch with a wire tool, then select the pair option.
Once paired, the smart switch can be remotely controlled to execute a variety of procedures within the game server.
News
In the news section, you can view information from updates, community changes, and more. This can be beneficial for viewing the latest content added to the game or to simply keep yourself notified of upcoming events.
Conclusion
With that, you now know how to install the Rust+ application and each menu feature that is available for players to use. Along with these tools, the application also allows you to customize various notifications for in-game events. This can be beneficial to find out if a teammate is online, player deaths, or even if a base alarm has been tripped from a possible intruder. Once you introduce Rust+ into your gameplay sessions, you’ll never know how you lived without it.
