Trying to determine what triggers lag spikes in Minecraft is challenging, as countless factors come into play. Fortunately, you have the opportunity to install the Spark mod for Forge or Fabric to help you with that. Spark Mod
The primary features of the Spark mod for Minecraft include running diagnostic reports of your dedicated server or client, revealing detailed information about ticks, memory, and more. This comes in handy when you’re trying to determine what causes lag in-game. Otherwise, skilled players might want to further optimize their gameplay experience by seeing what takes too many resources. Regardless of your reason, we’ll showcase the top two functions from Spark and some extra ones to get you started. These require cheats or operator permissions, as everything is run through commands. Once your account has access to them, type /spark help to see what’s available. Besides this, you can find more details about the mod on their official website.
Profiler Usage
The most popular feature for troubleshooting issues on Minecraft servers is using the Spark profiler, resulting in a detailed analysis report. This includes specific tick-entity, CPU, and active memory usages – represented by their respective values and percentages. Players with correct permissions can do this by running the /spark profiler [start / stop] command. It’s encouraged to wait around 5-15 mins before stopping the diagnostic.
Adding the following arguments to the start command might help you perform this report: –timeout [seconds]. This automatically stops the profiler after a certain amount of time, in seconds.
Server Health Report
In cases where you want a quick and easy-to-read report, consider using the /spark healthreport –network command. Other versions of the mod might require /spark health instead. This reveals TPS, tick durations, CPU, memory, and network usage. Players use this feature to determine the current performance of their Minecraft server or singleplayer world, useful for checking if problems are happening.
We encourage you to do this first before anything else unless you’re confident that there are issues. It’s an incredibly useful tool for any server owner and operator, primarily for monitoring background information.
Extra Features
There are tons of other useful features from the Spark mod for Minecraft, such as /spark [ping / tps / tickmonitor] and others. These briefly show what specifically is happening in-game, along with keeping track of their events. They aren’t too popular compared to the features above but certainly can come in handy for operators. Remember, visiting their official documentation reveals more helpful commands and functions from the mod.
Spark Mod for Optimization
As previously mentioned, the Spark mod for Minecraft provides you with many tools to help troubleshoot performance issues on servers or singleplayer worlds. The information gathered from reports or profilers can assist you with optimization, as it reveals valuable details about TPS, CPU, RAM, and more. Whether you realize mob farms or specific mods are causing lag, Spark gives you the ability to isolate problems in Minecraft.
