Luckily, the SilkSpawners plugin was created specifically for that issue. One of the most popular plugins ever created, SilkSpawners allows players to pick up and move spawners wherever they like. There is no longer a need to build extended elevators or go cave diving each time you need to get to your farm. In this guide, we will show you how to quickly and easily install and use the SilkSpawners plugin on your Apex Hosting Minecraft server.
Modbox Installation
IMPORTANT: Make sure to have Spigot or Paper selected in the Game File option on your server panel so plugins can work properly.
- Head towards your Apex server panel for the server.
- Navigate to
Server Configuration > Modboxon the left.
- Choose the version and search for the plugin you want, then select it.
- Click
Installon the left and wait for it to be installed. - Restart the server to load the plugin. Repeat this process for any other plugins.
Manual Installation
Download Silk Spawners on Bukkit or Spigot and follow these steps:
- Download the plugin file from the link above.
- Head towards your Apex server panel for the server.
- Locate the Game File option, then select Spigot or Paper if you haven't already.
- Navigate to
File Management > FTP File Accessand login. - Drag + drop the .jar file in the
pluginsdirectory. Alternative: Click theUploadbutton and select the file. - Wait for this to finish, then return to the main panel.
- Restart the server and the plugin should load properly once you join.
Usage
This plugin is easy to use out of the box. It doesn’t require any extra configuration or commands to get started with it. To use the plugin, simply find a mob spawner somewhere in your world, then mine it using a Pickaxe with the Silk Touch enchantment. This is incredibly useful to have when exploring the depths of your world. You never know when you may come across a dungeon or mineshaft, and now you have another reason to loot them.
Changing Mobs
The plugin allows you to change what mob is spawning from the spawner block. This is done by right-clicking on the spawner with a spawn egg in your hand. A message will appear in chat letting you know the change has been completed. This is a great opportunity for server owners to create shops with spawn eggs for players to use.

This is a great plugin for adding the SilkSpawner functions to your server’s economy. With the help of Vault, you can have players pay a fee to move or alter spawners with the plugin.
Much like the Eco addon above, the Sign Shop addon allows you to add the plugin to your server’s economy. This plugin was created to allow players to buy and sell spawners and even spawn eggs via sign shops much like the ones found in EssentialsX. This addon also requires Vault.
Common Issues
I can’t change the spawners to Ghasts or Giants
Ghasts, Giants, and similar large mobs are too big for a spawner. This is caused by a bug in Minecraft itself that has yet to be fixed at the time of writing.
Holographic Displays makes slime spawners stop working
This is a known issue caused by the SilkSpawners plugin. The creator is aware of the problem and is working to fix it, but a patch has not been released yet.
Gui Sign Shop doesn’t let me use spawners
This is usually caused by a missing permission. Try installing LuckPerms and add the guishop.spawner permission to the default group.
