Ever since the release of Minecraft, thousands of players have yearned for the old days. Recent updates introduce a wide variety of new blocks, items, structures, mobs, and more. This sounds fantastic, but many in the community don’t appreciate the direction where Mojang is heading. What if Notch decided to take a different approach to Minecraft? In an alternate universe, extra features would have been added much earlier than later. If this sparked some interest, consider playing with the Better than Adventure (BTA) mod for Minecraft Beta 1.7.3.

Better than Adventure Showcase
Upon generating the world, players can begin to experience Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 in a brand new light. One of the first ways to familiarize yourself is by pressing “R” on your keyboard, which opens a guidebook. This can be used to help you craft, learn more about specific blocks, and other tips. Besides this, there are many differences between Minecraft 1.20 and this version. The number of biomes aren’t too much, textures are altered, and even some sounds are new. Those who played the original beta will remember all of these older features.
Play normally, build houses, decorate, mine for resources, and explore the vast world with the Better than Adventure mod. It’s important to note that lighting in this version is changed, meaning areas will be darker without light sources. This makes surviving the night even more challenging, let alone not being able to stack food items. These mechanics and others makeup what Minecraft Beta was all about back in the day.
New Biomes
Despite there being less biomes, Better than Adventure adds extra ones to spice things up! These include sandy patches with unique trees or enormous glaciers that fill the land. There’s even cherry blossoms! This paints a picture of what Minecraft could be like in 2011 if Notch decided to add more biomes. As the mod gets updated, we might be able to visit extra environments – only time will tell.
Unique Blocks
Back in the olden days of Minecraft, there weren’t many blocks or decorations to use. This is now fixed with BTA! Introducing all kinds of wooden planks, colored chests, cobblestone variants, along with others to build the perfect base. This is amplified with marble pillars and slate bricks, adding onto the possibilities. As for ores, there are many versions of them depending on world generation. Examples include granite or limestone diamonds – but there are brand new minerals available too. We strongly suggest exploring all the new blocks in creative mode or with your handy guidebook (accessible by pressing the “R” key in-game).
The Labyrinth
Rather than simple dungeons, Better than Adventure adds labyrinths full of dangerous mobs and valuable loot. These can be found underground, scattered around the world – so get to digging! Once inside of a labyrinth, be cautious since zombies can spawn with armor and weapons. Make sure to have torches on-hand too, as it gets extremely dark in these new dungeons. Taking up arms and securing the labyrinth will surely lead to victory!
Extra Features
When you want to take a break and have fun with friends, consider using gamerules. For instance, using dwarfMode will make your entire character super tiny! Other ones include having nightmares when you sleep, which is entertaining if you like horror. There are plenty of unique commands too, such as /color that allows you to have a colored username in-chat. Try them all out with cheats or operator permissions!
One of the best quality of life features from the Better than Adventure mod is the upgraded inventory management system. By pressing “TAB” on your keyboard, you’re able to cycle through the various hotbars that contain all your items. This comes in handy when you need to quickly eat a golden apple or build bases with lots of different materials. This is just the iceberg’s tip too, as there are countless other mechanics awaiting you in BTA Minecraft 1.7.3.
Unlimited Potential with Better than Adventure!
Playing with the BTA mod for Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 opens the door for various activities that aren’t possible in the normal version. These include automated sifting machines for value items, customizable flags, firefly lanterns, and even a basket for your mob farm. Begin to explore the forefront of what Minecraft could have been with Better than Adventure. Grab friends and embark on this unique journey back in the time, but with upgraded features.
