Getting Started
Upon joining the server and entering a new world, you’ll notice a book in your inventory. This is a starter guide, meaning it contains basic information about progressing through the modpack. Using this will help boost your survival chances, as FTB Departed is a difficult pack to play. For instance, there are tons of new enemies that’ll destroy your character. Due to this, we’ll summarize the book and add extra tips to give you better odds at surviving in-game.
World Changes
One of the major changes to Minecraft from this modpack is the world generation, as there are brand new regions to explore.

If you’re lucky enough to spawn near a village, then you might notice some differences. The most noticeable one is a surrounding wall, protected by guards in their respective towers. Additionally, there are new structures to loot and possibly use as a base. Finding and using a village is a huge advantage for early gameplay, as it’s really secure and offers opportunities to advance your equipment.

On the topic of villages, there are special rituals that can be activated by Crimson Clerics and Knights. These can easily become hostile mobs, which would attack you on sight. Although, the clerics only become enemies if you attack them. Make sure to tread carefully as you explore these ritualistic structures. Otherwise, you might accidentally perish in combat against higher leveled mobs.

There are Magical Forests and other biomes that you may encounter in the Overworld, which may reveal unique structures. These typically have large trees, but can be found in normal biomes too. As for the buildings, they are scattered throughout the map in random locations. All of these biomes carry new blocks from the FTB Departed modpack, meaning exploring these areas will be useful.
Survival Tips
Since the modpack is challenging, you will likely need some tips and tricks to get started.
The first set of items you’ll want to craft is Wood Armor, as it’s widely available is better than nothing. This will propel you towards success, by giving you better defense against the harsh world. Afterward, you’ll want to make tools to gather new materials and hopefully get powerful weapons from it.

Due to all the mods, there are tons of mineral ores to find across the modpack’s many dimensions. There are five new ones in the overworld: Amethyst, Jade, Limonite, Rosite, and Sapphire. All of these can be used for crafting weapons, armor, and other items. In other words, without those new blocks, you won’t be able to progress in the pack.
Special Events
As you continue forward, unique events may appear around you. For example, one of these is a bloodhunt that prevents players from having a safe sleep. This is also where new mobs spawn and try to hunt you down, so taking shelter is highly recommended. Other events can be less problematic for you, but can provide adequate rewards for surviving them.

Ancient Teleportation

One of the main aspects to the FTB Departed modpack is its dimensions, which are accessed through ancient teleporters. These structures require a blueprint, then an item dropped by specific mobs. This allows you to obtain new items, materials, and gear to continue progression. Remember, the goal for this pack is to explore all the different dimensions to find the perfect environment. With this in mind, using these portals to access new worlds are required.
Common Issues
Modpack Isn’t Installing
In cases where the client installation isn’t working, try to close the FTB App and re-open it. Sometimes, their launcher can have problems outside of your control. However, if the server-side installation isn’t functioning properly, then Force Stop
from the panel and try again. Otherwise, you may try resetting the server files by deleting them via the FTP panel. These solutions will likely help, but other times the cause can be from unforeseen problems.
Lagging In-game
This happens a lot with modpacks, as there are tons of particles and extra entities in the world. You’ll want to optimize the server to reduce the load on it, making it more smooth in-game. Additionally, making sure your view distance and graphics are lowered will help with lag issues. In rare situations, it’ll be your computer’s memory having problems running the pack. Editing that in the FTP App is advised, which can be done by accessing the Settings
.
