Overview

When playing vanilla Minecraft, players need to hone their skills with the blade in order to take on the dangers that lurk around every corner. In order to develop these skills further, PvP game modes became popular, each with a different twist. Introducing the Apex SkyWars gametype, a pre-made server version that includes all of the plugins and configurations required to host your own SkyWars server for friends or other players. Featuring a pre-made lobby and a variety of unique arenas in the sky, challenging other players has never been so amusing. Installing the SkyWars gametype can be confusing for unfamiliar players, so we have created this Apex Hosting guide to ease you through the setup process.

Preparation

When using a pre-made gametype, it is advised to perform a full server reset ahead of time. This will prevent issues with conflicting worlds or files.

1. Navigate to the Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
2. Back up any important files using the FTP access.
3. In the left-hand menu, select Reset Server Files.
   
4. Use the checkbox to select all server files.
5. Enter reset into the box when prompted to reset the files.
   

How to Install SkyWars

1. Navigate to the Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
2. Scroll down to the Game File section, then open the dropdown.
   
3. Select SkyWars, then confirm the version change.
4. When prompted, press Use Included World.
   
5. Restart the server once complete to load up the gametype.

How to Use SkyWars

Upon first joining the gametype server, you will be greeted with the spawn hub. Here, this gametype includes a scoring system which will instantly update based on the performance of each player. This can be beneficial for setting up monthly/season rewards to top players or to simply compete to become the best. This spawn hub additionally provides the ability to utilize NPCs to adjust settings or view personal stats.

Once you are ready, right-click on any of the map signs to join a specific arena.
 

Solo Arenas

Trees

A simple map that is aesthetically similar to the popular SkyBlock gametype. Close combat is expected along with the danger of falling.

Cake

As the name suggests, this map features a large cake, with several cups as the player spawns.

Dawn

A larger island with a large tree in the center. With such a large island, expect many players to fight over the area.

Mythic

Featuring a mythical structure, this map is both large and close-quarters for balanced combat.

Team Arenas

Mars

With a rocket showing off as the centerpiece, this planet-based map will provoke close-combat and falls.

Pines

Starting with large pine trees, fight through a seemingly abandoned location with a collapsed building.

Japan

With vibrant trees and large flowers, the Japan arena once again features a larger island to draw in large numbers of players.

Memorial

With massive stone structures, a large island, and gaps in the ground, the danger of falling has never been so strong.

Palace

With a large multi-floor structure in the center of the map, danger can lurk from above or below

Notable SkyWars Commands

/sw join - Join a random SkyWars arena
/sw quit - Disconnect from the arena.
/sw options - Open the options menu.
/sw spectate [Playername/Mapname] - Spectate a specific player or arena.
/sw stats [Playername] - View the stats for a player.
