Overview
As the name suggests, mining is a massive part of Minecraft, allowing you to obtain ores to further your arsenal. After some time, you may find the process of looking for ores to be time consuming, which is perpetuated when adding mods to your game. When there is so much to do in the game, a shortcut may be desired to make mining easier. This is solved with Ore Excavation, a mod that allows you to quickly and efficiently destroy large amounts of blocks. Whether you create a strip mine in seconds, chop down entire trees, or collect large ore veins, this is all achievable with this mod. In addition to all of this, you can create your own excavation shapes to customize staircases, tunnels, and more. Installing mods is easy with Apex Hosting’s panel uploader, so we have created this guide to help you get started.

How to Get Started with Ore Excavation
Once you spawn into the game, the mod is already active and ready to be used. While the plugin can be used with just an empty hand for some blocks, it works best when using tools such as an axe or pickaxe. To properly use the mod, there are a few main features:
Changing the Shape
There are many shapes included by default that can be selected. By default this is the “V” key, which will display the chosen shape on screen. These include several tunnels such as 1×2, 3×3, and 5×5, as well as stairs up and down. There is also NONE
, which will enable the generic excavation mode.
Activating Excavation Mode
When you are ready to excavate and your shape is selected, you can start by using the `
key (Located above the Tab key). When holding this key, an outline will appear to show you where you will be starting the excavation point. Simply mine a block to perform the desired excavation shape. Keep in mind that your durability will also change to reflect the number of blocks that are mined.
In addition to mining out large tunnels and stairways, the NONE
shape selection is a generic excavation mode that will remove all of the same block. This is beneficial for cutting down trees, destroying large structures, or even just collecting all of a crop at once.
Editing Shapes
If the default shape options aren’t desirable enough, you can also edit or create new ones. This is available through the B
keybind GUI menu. In this menu, you can use the left click to choose an excavation shape and the right click to choose the center point for your cursor. Using the options at the side, you can configure how far the tunnel goes forwards, backwards, and adjust the height. This is great for creating unique strip mine shapes or just to have more control over how far you go each time.
Conclusion
Ore Excavation allows you to save so much time in the mining process, it will quickly become an essential mod for every world. Whether you use it to quickly stripmine, break multiple of the same block, or fell trees within seconds, it has an application in almost any situation. Even if you are attempting to flatten terrain, you could create a custom shape that can be used on the ground. With so many uses and customization options, Ore Excavation is a must-have for both survival and creative mode. With the knowledge of how to get started, you can jump right into a game of modded Minecraft and excavate to your heart’s content!
