Cursed Walking – A Modern Zombie Apocalypse Modpack
In this modpack, you’ll find everything you need to live an apocalyptic experience within a Minecraft server. From a selection of weapons, a wide variety of armor and protections, to modifications ensuring that only zombies spawn in your world – and they won’t burn in sunlight! Below, we’ll highlight the most notable features of the modpack so you can face this apocalypse together with your friends on your own server!
Getting started
When you first spawn into your server, you’ll receive a small survival “kit” that includes a pistol with bullets, another item, another item, and another item (to be determined what and how many). These supplies will help you survive the first few nights, but be cautious and manage your resources wisely. You’ll face different types of events, each with its unique characteristics, buffs, and debuffs. You’ll need to craft your weapons and ammunition from scratch. Discover all of this in detail and explore everything the mod has to offer.

New Mechanics
Within your server you will encounter new challenges and events that will test your survival skills. Discover each one of them and prepare to face these new difficulties.
Moon Phases
This mod introduces unique nighttime events influenced by the moon’s phases:
- Blue Moon: The most favorable phase, increasing the player’s luck when looting and collecting rewards from mobs and the environment.
- Harvest Moon: This Moon causes your crops to give you more when you harvest them, however the buff only lasts during the night, while the zombies are more active… will you dare to take advantage of it?
- Blood Moon/Super Blood Moon: The most dangerous phase, significantly increasing the difficulty of zombies nearby.
These are some of the moon phases that can appear randomly from the start of the game. It’s a good idea to start building your base early to ensure you can take advantage of the good moons and be protected for the hard ones.
Increasing Difficulty
The game also features a progressive difficulty system. As time passes, the zombies around you become stronger and faster. The difficulty level is displayed in the top left corner of your screen and increases with each passing day. Team up with your friends and see how many days you can survive in this hostile, zombie-filled world.

No Nether, No End, No Warden
This mod is centered on surviving against waves of zombies, which is why dimensions like the Nether and the End are disabled. You can still build and activate portals, but they will teleport you back to the server’s spawn point. Additionally, the Warden cannot spawn, so you are free to explore ancient cities without worrying about noise. If you’re wondering how to obtain Netherite without visiting the Nether, it can now be found on the surface—so keep your eyes peeled while exploring caves! Blaze rods can be acquired through the crafting processes in the “Create” mod. For the shulker box you have backpacks to expand your inventory.
Custom Mobs
In this modpack, all hostile creatures have been transformed into zombies. You won’t find skeletons, endermen, or spiders; instead, they have been replaced by specialized zombies. For example, you may encounter zombies equipped with pickaxes that can break your structures and drop gunpowder upon death, or others that drop ender pearls or bones. The modpack also includes “Tissou’s Zombie Pack,” adding new visuals and animations for the zombies. Additionally, thanks to the “Mob Sunscreen” mod, zombies won’t burn in sunlight, meaning they can linger near your base at any time of day. You will also have to be very careful because when you die, a zombie version of you will be created that will not only have your appearance but will also have equipped all your loot. Making it hard to recover your precious equipment by forcing you to fight your zombified version and survive.

New Weapons and Armor
This modpack features a wide range of armor options, including 10 complete armor sets, each offering unique abilities. You’ll also find various helmets and vests that help you craft the perfect apocalyptic look for your adventure.

The weapon selection is equally extensive, with a variety of options ranging from long- and short-range firearms to simple spiked bats. Craft your weapons using special workbenches that allow you to create ammunition, attachments, and upgrades.
A new material called Ballistic Iron has been introduced, which can be collected from defeated zombies. This raw material must be refined and is essential for crafting certain weapons and armor pieces.

Backpacks and Storage
Since dimensions like the End are disabled, shulker boxes are not available in this modpack. Instead, you can craft backpacks, which are essential for expanding your inventory and carrying more supplies. There are three backpack sizes: Small: 15 slots, Medium: 54 slots and Large: 117 slots. You could also upgrade your backpacks to perform certain tasks, such as having a tab for smelting materials or a stone cutter tab. These backpacks allow you to explore longer without worrying about running out of space before returning to your base.

Food and Cooking
The modpack includes mods that cater to your dietary needs and enhance your survival experience. With “Farmer’s Delight,” you can access new foods that provide useful bonuses during long nights when zombies attack your base. Discover new crops and kitchen tools to prepare a variety of recipes included in the mod. Additionally, the “Edible Zombie Flesh” mod lets you cook and eat zombie flesh, ensuring a steady food supply throughout your adventure.

Cities and Exploration
The latest updates to the modpack introduce randomly generated cities throughout the map. To activate this in your world you have to enable the option in the section of “more” from the world creation menu. Discover entire metropolises overgrown with nature and swarming with zombies. While exploring the streets and buildings, you may encounter both dangerous zombie hordes and friendly NPC survivors. These survivors won’t harm you but will be attacked by hostile mobs. These cities can serve as excellent starting points for your apocalyptic adventure.
