How to Set Admins on ARK: Survival Evolved

Overview

When playing ARK: Survival Evolved, you may find yourself in need of using server commands. Luckily, you can add players as an admin using a password that you select for your server. Using this, you will gain the ability to access all in-game commands as you play. Whether this is used to moderate the server, advance your progress, or simply fly around, all of this is possible when you set an admin on an ARK server. Becoming an admin can be a bit confusing if you are unfamiliar with the instructions, so we have created this Apex Hosting guide to ease you through the setup process.
 

Setting an Admin Password

1. Navigate to the Apex Server Panel and stop the server.
2. Proceed to the Customizations tab on the left-hand side.
   
3. Locate the Admin Password field near the top.
4. Replace the text using your desired password.
   
5. Once complete, return to the main panel page and restart the server.

Becoming an Admin

1. Launch ARK: Survival Evolved and join your server.
2. Once in, press the [Tab] key to open the server console.
3. Enter the following command:

enablecheats [Admin Password]

4. Replace “[Admin Password]” with your selected password, then press [Enter].
   
5. You can ensure this works by using the cheat fly and cheat walk commands.

Using Cheats

Now that you have access to admin commands, there are two methods of using them.
 

Manual Commands

Most commands can be used through the in-game console from earlier. All available commands can be found on the commands wiki. If the desired cheat has Cheat: Yes in front of it, it must be preceded by cheat at the beginning.

Example:

cheat EnableSpectator

GUI Cheat Manager

For other server details and cheats, you can also use the in-game admin cheat manager. This can be accessed in the server console through the following command:

showmyadminmanager

From here, you can view server information, adjust connected players, use the cheat manager, and more. To use a command, simply click on one in the manager, fill out the required details, then execute it.
 

Setting Permanent Admin Access

If you want to always have admin access enabled on the server without using the command, this can be enabled in-game.

1. Open the showmyadminmanager GUI cheat menu.
2. Under Connected Players, select your player name.
   
3. Press Whitelist below it to add your name as a whitelisted player.

You will now have automatic admin mode upon joining the server!
 

Common Issues

Commands aren’t working:
If this occurs, we recommend returning to the Apex Server panel and ensuring your admin password is set to what you desire. If issues are still occurring, restart the server once more, then try the command.

The GUI cheat menu works, but manual commands do not:
There are a few reasons this may occur. We recommend adding yourself to the admin whitelist through the GUI, then restarting the server before rejoining. If issues are still occurring, ensure the command is starting with cheat or admincheat without an ‘s’. For example, cheats EnableSpectator will not work.
