Overview
When owning a Rust server, personalizing your server is often important for players and owners alike. Whether it’s to make your server stand out in a list or simply add some life to the server information screen, one of the many personalizations is changing the Rust server name. Using this you can set your server name to be descriptive of what the server is about, use something memorable, or even just a fun name for yourself and friends. Changing the Rust server name can be confusing for unfamiliar players, so we have created this Apex Hosting guide to ease you through the setup process.
Changing Through The Main Panel
- Navigate to the Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
- Scroll down and locate the
Public Server Name
field. - In this field, enter the server name you desire.
- Once complete, scroll down and press the
Save
button. - Restart the server to load up the changes.
Changing Through Customizations
- Navigate to the Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
- Proceed to the
Customizations
tab on the left-hand side. - Locate the
Public Server Name
field. - Enter the server name you wish to use.
- Once complete, return to the main panel page and restart the server.
Once this is complete, your server should now display your chosen display name in the server browser!
Common Issues
The server name keeps changing back on the panel:
Oftentimes, this means that the name is not saved properly. After the name is set on the main panel page, ensure that you click the Save
button at the bottom of the page to allow the changes to take effect. If issues still occur, access the Customizations
tab and see if the name properly updates through there.
The name is not changing in-game:
There are many reasons why the name is not changing for you in-game. First, ensure that the server is restarted after the changes are saved in order for it to take effect. If the name still does not change after a server restart, attempt to restart your own game and take another look. This will clear the game’s server cache and should display the changes that were made.
