Overview

Game servers are fun for all to play and build a community together. However, in some cases, players or unwanted players can cause trouble and need to be removed from the server. Apex Hosting CS:GO servers have a system in place to ban such problematic users. Every owner, admin, or anyone else monitoring the server should be aware of this feature. This guide will detail the process of reviewing a player’s information, banning/unbanning them, and listing the banned users.

Obtaining the Player’s Information

All users who join your CS:GO server have IDs, and this is important to know when banning a player. There is a command to get information for any player, which is the status command. Cheats do not have to be enabled to run this command.

  1. Go to your Apex server panel and log in.
  2. Navigate to the console section of the panel.
  3. After getting there, type status in and click send.

Once executed in the console, you will see it return the following information.

  4. After copying that, please execute banip [minutes] [ID].

Common Issues

Server owners can sometimes run into trouble when executing commands, configuring files, or even reviewing information. This section will describe the most common issues regarding all the commands and functions mentioned in this guide.

Commands are not Working

If you execute a command in your server console and do not see any return message, please redo the command. That will deliver the right message, thereby confirming the command worked.

Cannot Ban an IP Address

Make sure you are only using the actual numerical address without the port when executing the command. Ports are the numbers after the address with the colon, for example, :12345.

Conclusion

A server owner needs to remove problematic users in-game that disrupt their community or gameplay in almost every instance. For instance, players in-game could cheat or abuse the voice chat system. Securing your server is essential to keeping it safe from these types of users. This guide detailed how to properly ensure your Apex Hosting server from unwanted players.
