Managing your server isn’t always easy. Aside from being a moderator for players, you also have to deal with a lot of server configuration. You may need to change settings and alter the gameplay to fit your player’s needs. Luckily, most games include admin functions to make the process less of a hassle. Having admin access will allow you to use every possible command and function available for the game. This can be used to kick players from the server, change resources, and alter some basic game mechanics. Many games like The Forest accomplish this through the use of an Admin Password that every admin for your server can use. In this quick guide, we will show you how to create or change the admin password on your Apex Hosting panel.

Setting the Password

1. Login to your control panel and stop the server.
   
2. Navigate to the Customizations tab in the menu on the left side of the page.
   
3. Locate the Admin Password box and change it to anything you like.
4. (optional) If you can’t think of a password, you can use a site like this to generate a strong one for you.
5. Return to the main page of your control panel and restart the server.

The new password will be put into effect immediately. Your admins will need to enter it when they join the server to be able to access admin functions.

Joining as an Admin

After your password is set for the server, using it is fairly easy.

1. Launch the game and click on the Multiplayer option.
2. Click on Join Game then select the Dedicated (internet) option.
3. Select your server from the list and click on the Join or Continue buttons.
   
4. A new screen will appear for you to enter your admin password.
5. Click on Join after entering the password and you will load into the server as normal

Once you have joined the server with the admin password you will have immediate access to admin commands.

How to Use Admin Commands

Commands can be used by typing them into the chat box in the game. You can open the chat by pressing the return key. Just be sure to put a / before the command. The / tells the game that you are entering a command and not just typing a normal chat message.

There are a lot of useful commands for The Forest such as /kick and /save, but the most useful by far is /help. The /help command will display a complete list of available commands in the chat for you to browse along with some basic information about the command’s function.
