Overview

In vanilla Minecraft, a primary aspect of gameplay is surviving in the world. After some time, the gameplay can become monotonous, as the path to surviving is often the same. Some players add new challenges in order to make gameplay more interesting, such as skyblock and modded Minecraft. Introducing FTB Sky Odyssey, a combination of these two aspects to create a challenging Minecraft experience. With Apex Hosting, installing and playing FTB Sky Odyssey is very easy, so today we will show you how to get started.
 

Summary

FTB Sky Odyssey is a very popular modpack, with over 1 million downloads across platforms. This modpack has over 200 in-game mods and is a standalone expansion to FTB Sky Adventures featuring tons of tech mods. Similar to skyblock, you will start on your own island and will need to build your way up through the numerous tech mods to begin your own empire.
 

Server-Installation

1. Navigate to your Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
2. Scroll down to the JAR File section, then select FTB Sky Odyssey.
   
3. It is recommended to generate a new world when prompted, then restart.

(Recommended) Enable Void World

When playing this modpack on a server, you will most likely want to enable the voidworld level, so the islands are properly floating. Without this, they will be close to the ground.

1. Navigate to the Config Files section, then open Server Settings.
2. Scroll down to the Level Type field, then enter void.
   
3. Press “save” when complete.
4. Generate a new world when prompted, then restart.

Windows Installation

1. Navigate to the FTB App Download Page.
2. Press the Download for Windows button, then run the installer.
   
3. Launch the FTP App when complete, then navigate to the Browse section.
4. From here, locate or search for FTB Sky Odyssey, then press Install.
   
5. Once complete, return to the My Modpacks page to launch the modpack.

MacOS Installation

1. Navigate to the FTB App Download Page.
2. Press the Download for MacOS button, then run the installer.
   
3. Launch the FTP App when complete, then navigate to the Browse section.
4. From here, locate or search for FTB Sky Odyssey, then press Install.
   
5. Once complete, return to the My Modpacks page to launch the modpack.

How to Get Started

Once you join the server, you should be placed on a single block in the sky. From here, you can use the /team create [name] command. Upon doing so, a GUI will open, allowing you to choose an island.

Once selected, you should now spawn into your desired island and can begin to collect resources.
 

Features

Within the [E] inventory menu, there are numerous buttons in the top-left that have different uses in your gameplay.

Quests

A large part of the mod, the quests are guides to help you find your way in what you should complete when playing the mod. In return, you will get rewards through currency or items.
 
Claimed Chunks

This area will show you which chunks belong to your team, as well as allow you to claim or remove areas using right and left click.
 
Shop

After earning currency through quests, you can then access the shop in order to buy items. These can be ores, tools, eggs, and more!

Draconic Evolution

DE is a tech mod that adds many powerful tools, items, and machines using the main ore block, draconium. This mod will take effort, but the payoff is great.

Extra Utilities 2

EU2 is a mod that adds numerous blocks and items to the game. From decorative blocks to generators, this mod has lots to work with.

Inventory Pets

With Inventory Pets, you are able to collect and take care of numerous pets with amazing powers. By simply feeding them the desired food, you will be able to access a chest anywhere, have a mobile anvil, and much more!

Tech Reborn

The Tech Reborn mod, akin to its name, is a tech mod that adds many new tools, machines, and more. This is a standalone mod, having plenty of progression to get stronger!

Common Issues

I can see the ground from the island:
Generally, this means that the level type was not correctly set in the server settings. Navigate to the Config Files, then make sure the level type is set to “void”. Then when you save, make sure to create a new world.

I get an error when joining the server:
Often, if a player is unable to join the server, it is because the modpack isn’t properly installed on your own computer. Ensure you are using the official FTB Sky Odyssey modpack from FTB to have all of the proper mods installed to join the server.

My server is stuck loading:
This often happens when a mod is removed from an existing world. You can force the world to load by going to the server console and entering /fml confirm. That should then load the world with the missing mods removed.

Modded items aren’t spawning in the server:
If the mods appear in the creative menu but are not properly appearing on the server, it often means the server is not properly using the modpack. Ensure that the server was switched to FTB Sky Odyssey through the panel and restarted to load it up.
