Overview
In the world of vanilla Minecraft, magic exists but is quite barren overall. While there are enchantment tables, totems, and more, many feel that it is lacking. To solve this issue, players turn towards mods and add these new elements to their gameplay. This is brought to the next level with FTB Mage Quest, a modpack that adds a variety of magic-based elements to your game. Whether you embrace nature with Botania or harness the arcane power of Blood Magic, there is plenty to explore. Installing modpacks is easy with our one-click installer, so we have created this Apex Hosting tutorial.

Getting Started
As soon as you spawn into your world, you may notice many new differences. Whether it’s new structures in your world or the starter items in your hotbar, there is tons to experience.
World Changes
Upgraded Villages
If you stumble across one of the villagers in your world, you may notice some new changes. Villages now have various guards added to protect the population, with their own guard tower to go with it. There may be additional changes as well, including a protective wall or even new village types altogether.
Miner’s Hut
Alongside the large villages and broken ruins you may find a small miner’s hut. This tiny building includes a bed and a single loot chest, which also has a stairway down to the beginning of a mine. Whether you stay here for the first few nights or make use of the mine, this is a great location to get yourself situated.
Strange Rituals
If you find a strange obelisk around your world, various Crimson Clerics and Knights may be performing a ritual into the center node. The Crimson Knights are hostile, however attacking one will cause the Clerics to become hostile as well. Tread carefully if you are not ready to take these enemies on, it may be wise to return later on.
New Biomes
World changes are not complete without accompanying biomes to take the adventure to the next level. Mage Quest adds many new biomes to explore, from tranquil and vibrant to dark and gloomy. Try to find all new areas and the structures within them.
Quests
If you aren’t sure where to start, consider opening the Quest Book provided in your inventory. If you have lost your quest book, it can be remade with a book and a piece of string. This will provide you with information on various tasks and give you guidance on what to do as you play through the modpack. As you continue, you will have the opportunity to choose your School of magic speciality and one to minor in. Whether you choose to focus on the magic of nature, the magic within yourself, or more, there is plenty to do and explore.
Common Issues
The server is stuck loading after switching to the FTB Mage Quest:
Oftentimes, this issue will occur if a new world is not generated after switching the modpack version. To create a new world, enter the server panel, then press the Change World button. Enter a unique name when prompted, then continue to restart the server. This is especially important if the previous server version was newer than 1.7.10. Otherwise, you can attempt to force-start the server by entering /fml confirm
into the console.
I receive an error when I attempt to join:
When this issue occurs, it generally means that the modpack is not properly running on your own computer. First, make sure you have installed the modpack directly through the FTB Launcher. Afterwards, relaunch the pack through the correct instance and attempt to join once again. All players will need to be running the same modpack in order to join and play as well.
