While crafting an axe in your Minecraft world, you may be wondering what the best enchantments are for it. Well, that depends on if you want an amazing weapon for combat or a tool for building bases. Enchanting is a wonderous way to improve your gameplay, as it allows you to be overpowered while using items. For example, having efficiency on an axe makes cutting down trees faster for a new base.
Almost every player uses enchants for their axes, as using the default item doesn’t do the trick. Even if you have a netherite variant for it, that doesn’t compare to an enchanted one. With that said, start collecting books and experience orbs to build a weapon or tool best suited for you!
There are a handful of axe enchantments you can apply that are either goated or dogwater. If you wanna be the best at PvP, then make sure you don’t use worthless enchants. For instance, using Curse of Vanishing wouldn’t help with fighting enemies. In vanilla Minecraft you can only get 9 enchantments, so we’ll go through the best ones to help you become a pro at combat or a simple lumberman.
By far the best enchantment for PvP, its powerful slashes slices through your opponents with ease. There are 5 levels to sharpness, which controls how much damage you deal. This enchantment tends to be applied to any axe due to its usefulness in-game. Don’t fret against enemies, use it to ensure your victory! Otherwise, suffer at the hands of your in-game killers.
If you’re wanting to mine a ton of trees for a base or simply wanting to deforest your world, use the efficiency enchantment to do it faster. There are 5 levels for this, which control the mining speed. Everyone wants to save time doing the mundane tasks in Minecraft, so using this will be efficient…hence the name if that wasn’t clear enough.
While losing durability, even with unbreaking, it cannot be repaired other than using another axe in an anvil. However, the mending enchantment takes your EXP and instantly repairs your damaged tool. Since this is an overpowered enchantment, there aren’t any levels to it. This is extremely helpful in almost any situation when using your axe.
As you use the axe, its durability will fade away until it breaks. With the unbreaking enchantment, the item will not be destroyed as easily due to its nullifying effects. In other words, the more you use the axe with this ability, it negates damage against its durability. There are only three levels for unbreaking, which determines the chances of not breaking. This comes in handy when you’re farming apples or using it for literally anything else.
Want apples? Use this enchantment to have better chances at obtaining them from leaves. I happen to enchant mine with fortune all the time, because apples are used for gold apples and that’s helpful in PvP. Besides that, you can use fortune for more mob drops at your grinder. Technically, an axe is more powerful than a sword so it may be worth it. That’s especially true when you factor in the three levels for the enchantment, and if you haven’t noticed by now the levels control the intensity of the effect.
Speaking of mobs, you can use smite to increase the damage against the undead. This is particularly useful in grinders or getting rid of the pests during nighttime near your base. Although, it’s not too helpful in anything else, so it’s typically used on an axe designed for killing mobs. Basically, if you don’t kill undead mobs that much then this is useless.
This is the best enchantment for building bases, as it allows you to mine leaves and other blocks without it turning into another item. For instance, when I start raiding a village, the bookshelves require silk touch to mine without them breaking into normie books. Who wants normal books?! Well I guess they are useful, but that’s besides the point. This enchantment is wonderful for base building and other uses to obtain specific blocks.
There are three ways you can obtain these enchantments. (besides commands) You can enchant your Axe in an Enchanting Table, find an enchanted book, or a villager that is willing to trade it. The Enchanting Table will be your best bet, as you can keep rolling until you get it, instead of just looting chests and villages, as the chances of finding a book or villager willing to trade the ideal enchantments are extremely low. If you do happen to find a book with the enchantment you want, just use an anvil to apply the book to the armor piece.
Using enchanted axes in your Minecraft world brings new effects and abilities to harness. Whether you’re wanting to dominate the battlefield with sharpness or become an apple god with fortune, you have the power to do anything! Well, almost. There are limited enchantments for the axe, but you know the best to use. Make sure to not forget them, because using the wrong enchants for a PvP axe may just cost your life in combat. I hope this was beneficial to your enchanting adventure, have a good one!
