Overview

When playing vanilla Minecraft for a long time, you may eventually become bored and desire new gameplay. Oftentimes, this leads players to modpacks, which are capable of adding plenty of new items, blocks, and adventures. Trying to choose and explore a modpack when you are unfamiliar can be overwhelming. Introducing FTB Academy, a modpack designed for beginners to introduce and experiment with popular mods. Installing a modpack can be tedious if you are unfamiliar with the process, so we have created this Apex Hosting to guide you through the installation process.
 

Summary

FTB Academy 1.16 is a modpack developed by the FTB Team for version 1.16.5 and is a follow-up to the original FTB Academy 1.12. Starting off in a custom-built school, it eases players into the modded environment, showing off the wonders and knowledge required to operate certain mods. With over 300 quests, players will construct machines, magical tools, and plenty of treasures.
 

Server-Installation

1. Navigate to your Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
2. Scroll down to the JAR File section, then open the dropdown menu.
3. Search and locate FTB Academy, then select it.
   
4. We recommend generating a new world when prompted, then restart the server.

Client-Installation

1. Navigate to the FTB App Download Page.
2. Press the Download button for your operating system, such as Windows.
   
3. Launch the FTP App when complete, then navigate to the Browse section.
4. From here, locate or search for Academy 1.16, click it, then press Install.
   
5. Once complete, return to the Library page to launch the modpack.

How to Get Started

Upon first spawning in, you should be in a school-like building. This first room is simply an introduction into the inner workings of the mod, such as the quest book. We recommend reading through each of the text boxes in order.

You can leave the tutorial school at any time by using the command /school leave, then return using /school enter ftbacademy:spawn. Once you are ready, you can proceed to the next area to find the following sections:
 

Tech Introduction

The tech showcase area introduces you to some new ores, as well as tools and machines. Along with this, it provides some information on how power is used to make these machines function.
 

Magic Introduction

Here in the magic showcase area, you will be introduced to Botania and the magic it brings. You can see some of the custom armor, weapons, and trinkets created through magic and mana. In addition, there is the astral sorcery mod, allowing you to harness Starlight to create rituals.
 

Proceeding From Here

Once you have read through all of the text, find your way to the back of the tutorial area, then flip the lever to depart to the overworld.

You should now be in the overworld, attempting to survive for real. Don’t worry though, as you should now be given your Quest Book mentioned in the beginning of the Academy tutorial. Simply right-click to open it up and proceed through the quests.

With that, you can begin to work your way through the many quests and tutorials awaiting you. From the massive technological machines to the diverse magic from Botania, there will be plenty for you to learn and do. As each of the tutorials are quest-based, you can choose when to participate. Whether you want to learn it all right away or take your time, either is possible with the FTB Academy mod. Common Issues

I get an error when joining the server:
Often, if a player is unable to join the server, it is because the modpack isn’t properly installed on your own computer. Ensure you are using the official FTB Academy modpack from FTB to have all of the proper mods installed to join the server.

My server is stuck loading:
This often happens when a mod is removed from an existing world. You can force the world to load by going to the server console and entering /fml confirm. That should then load the world with the missing mods removed.

Modded items aren’t spawning in the server:
If the mods appear in the creative menu but are not properly appearing on the server, it often means the server is not properly using the modpack. Ensure that the server was switched to FTB Academy through the panel and restarted to load it up.
