Overview
When playing vanilla minecraft, a large part of the gameplay is travelling to other dimensions for exploration. But after some time, the burning Nether and sprawling End may become boring, leading you to want something new to explore. Introducing MystCraft, a mod that adds tons of new worlds to explore. These worlds, also known as ages, can be created or discovered through special books and items in your world. Whether you customize the sky color, biome, or even the very blocks in the world, MystCraft has infinite possibilities. Installing a mod can be a bit tedious if you are unfamiliar with the process, so we have created this Apex Hosting guide to ease you through the process.
Summary
MystCraft is a mod with over 11 million downloads, with versions ranging up to 1.12.2. It is owned by XCompWiz, with theCyanideX and HellFirePvP given artist and maintainer credit respectively. Based on the 1993 game, Myst, this mod allows you to create your own dimensions through the use of special books. These worlds can be beautiful and customized to your liking, but some of them may be dangerous.

Getting Started
Now that the mod is installed, you can begin the prep work for exploring new dimensions!
Recipes
The ink mixer is used to create linked pages, which are an important part of the mod.
The book binder allows you to create descriptive books, which allow entry to new Ages.
The ink vial has two possible recipes and is another integral part of this mod. Most blocks and items require plenty of ink vials for creating the special books.
Creating a Linking Book
The linking book will be your best friend in this mod, as it allows you to return to any dimension where it is linked. Without one, you will be stuck in an Age, even if you die.
To begin, open the Ink Mixer, then deposit paper and ink. This should create Link Panel Pages, which you can retrieve from the right-hand side.
From here, simply open a crafting table, then add 1 Link Panel Page along with 1 leather to create an Unlinked Link Book. Once you are ready, right-click the book in the overworld to link it.
When you open it, it should say Overworld on the left. We recommend creating multiple linking books, as these are the only guaranteed way of returning to the overworld.
Creating a Descriptive Book
Navigate to your Book Binder created earlier, then insert leather and 1 Link Panel Page, as well as a name in the top-left. If successful, you can retrieve your descriptive book.
Before departing, make sure you are prepared. This could be a lush, safe world or it may be a life-threatening journey. Once prepared and you have a linking book on-hand, open the descriptive book and click the square-shape on the right.
It may take some time to load, but you should then appear in a brand new Age. Whether you stay or leave with your linking book, the possibilities are endless.
Common Issues
My server isn’t starting up after adding the mod:
Oftentimes, the main reason for this is caused by an issue with the installation. Make sure that your server is running the same Forge version as your mods. Otherwise, make sure no other mods from different versions are present, as this can cause a crash.
My existing world isn’t working with the mod:
If you want to use an existing world with these mods, ensure that the mods are compatible with the same version as the world. Worlds are not forwards-compatible, meaning a 1.16 world with the 1.12 mods version can cause issues.
The items aren’t working on the server:
Oftentimes, this is happening because the mods are not installed on the server correctly or the server was not restarted after adding the mods. Ensure that the server is running Forge and that the mods .jar files are uploaded directly into the “mods” folder. If it is uploaded anywhere else, it will not work.
I get an error when joining the server:
This can occur if the mods are installed on the server, but not your own game. Make sure that you installed Forge on your own computer as well, as all players will need the mods installed on their own client in order to join and play.
