Minecraft fishing is an old and classic feature in the game, allowing players to collect loot ranging from good to bad. In some cases, this is the best method for collecting overpowered gear on servers. There are many techniques to gather loot from fishing, which can alter its probability. For instance, using enchantments can increase your luck to obtain more enchanted books. Additionally, this gives you experience orbs and tons of other potential materials. Whether you use a normal fishing rod or a powerful one, fishing can give you useful items. With this in mind, let’s explore Minecraft fishing loot and methods to get them.
The most crucial aspect to fishing is your rod, used for collecting loot after catching a fish. That goes without saying, but some may not know the exact process to fish in Minecraft. Additionally, there are some tips and tricks players use to collect better items. Due to this, allow me to explain the possible challenges and benefits for certain fishing tactics.
The default tactic for fishing is simply using a rod without any enchantments by a river, lake, or ocean. This is likely the first encounter that every player experiences when first trying to fish. The results from using this method aren’t great, as it’s difficult to obtain good loot due to poor chances. Additionally, the durability of the fishing rod is low and breaks fast. If you’re wanting to collect the best gear out of this activity, then do not use the normal method.
As for a solid tactic, the grind method gives the best odds for loot. This is caused by using enchantments in a controlled environment to output the most fish catches. For instance, a player can create a 1×1 water area and even turn it into an automatic farm! Although, this instant system has to be built correctly with several unique materials. Regardless, grinding for better loot requires using a strong fishing rod and making a dedicated spot for this activity.
Now onto the loot, as this is what almost all Minecraft players want out of fishing. The best enchantment for rods is Luck of the Sea (LotS), which has three luck levels to increase the treasure odds from catches. Combine this with unbreaking and mending, then you’ll truly have a godly fishing experience. Once you have a similar rod, the loot chances change in your favor. For example, LotS 3 can make obtaining enchanted books easier for you, possibly giving you level 30 enchantments. There are tons of potential loot to collect, but we’ll review the best ones down below with their respective drop rate.
|Item||Unenchanted Chance||LotS 1||LotS 2||LotS 3|

Minecraft fishing loot can either be good or dogwater, depending on your rod’s power. This isn’t an understatement, as the odds are naturally stacked against players. However, once you have an OP fishing rod, start using the grind method to give you better chances at treasure drops. Since experience orbs are given upon every fish, mending will likely prevent your rod from breaking. Using this, combined with LotS and other enchantments, will truly return you better results. Otherwise, you can attempt a village farm to selectively pick what loot you receive. Besides this, we hope this helped you learn more about Minecraft fishing and its possible benefits.
