Minecraft is a constantly evolving game, with new updates being released regularly to keep players engaged and excited about new features and improvements. The latest update, which was recently announced, promises to be one of the biggest and most exciting yet! Minecraft 1.20 – Trails and Tales includes a range of new features, improvements, and changes that will significantly impact gameplay and the overall Minecraft experience. From new biomes to new mobs and items, this update has something for every player, regardless of their playstyle or interests. Today, we will explore the many exciting features of this new Minecraft update and discuss how they will enhance gameplay and improve the overall Minecraft experience. Whether you are a seasoned Minecraft player or just starting out, this update promises to be a game-changer that will keep you coming back for more. So, let’s dive in and explore all that this new Minecraft update has to offer!
That’s right! This update is called Trails and Tales. This update is all about self-expression, storytelling, and world-building. It’s the journey, your trails that tie it all together. In Minecraft, the stories belong to the players and this update aims to inspire more player tales by adding exciting hints of a forgotten past and by making it easier to create and store player stories.
This update is looking to be way more exciting than Caves and Cliffs! Well, not really, but it’s looking like this update will be significantly more stable! And it will probably release all of its features in one update rather than three separate ones. Unfortunately, this announcement has not come with a release date yet. But progress is progress!
Finally, years after all the hype and initial fanfare have died down, Archaeology is making its way to the game! The new archaeology system includes 4 unique pot designs along with the new mechanics surrounding dusting fake sand to find pot shards. Mix and match different shard pieces to create your own custom pots to your heart’s content!
Ancient pots have unique designs that reflect something from a distant past in the world of Minecraft. Use your brush to unearth the history of the land!
So, how about those signs, huh? Signs now no longer have to be placed on the top or sides of blocks, but can now be hung from the bottom of blocks! Hanging signs! They look so nice, with what looks to be chains on either side of the sign holding the sign, attaching it to the bottom of the block. You can even attach signs to the bottom of signs, creating a wind chime-like arrangement that can look very pretty!
A new family of wood makes it into the game! Featuring its own planks, blocks, and more, Bamboo wood is now in Minecraft. This is part of the developers’ attempts to bring a more accurate representation of wood types to the game.
Furthermore, this wood set is even more special due to its exclusive set of blocks. You can use this bamboo wood to craft decorative mosaic blocks. No such block exists for other types of wood in the game, making this set truly unique. You can also use bamboo to make rafts, which work like boats but have an entirely distinct appearance.
For the first time in forever, bookshelves are actually useful in the game! After crafting the new chiseled bookshelves, you can store regular and enchanted books in them! Feel free to place all your best stories and enchanted books on this new functional bookshelf. Although it is impossible to differentiate between enchanted and normal books, there are still some unique mechanics to this block.
This new bookshelf sends out a Redstone signal with different strengths depending on the slot that is used in the bookshelf. We can now make secret passageways using this new awesome block!
The inventory that is used in creative mode has been revamped slightly, changing the organization of blocks and items to different categories. This new manner of organization is cleaner than earlier versions of the game, now consisting of the following tabs:
Not many are aware, but mob heads are actually obtainable in vanilla gameplay. Now, mob heads actually serve a purpose and have utility! 1.20 now allows us to connect the mob heads with Note blocks to create ambient mob sounds. These noises correlate to the mob whose head is being used. For example, Piglins make their token oinking sound.
Speaking of, Piglin heads are now obtainable! To obtain one, you have to kill a Piglin using a charged creeper. How are you going to manage this? I have no idea! Best of luck!
What exactly is armor trimming? Armor trims are a purely cosmetic change that you can apply to your armor by integrating Smithing Templates, specific ores, and your armor. They are styled based on what biome/structure you found the template within. These changes to armor allow for immense customizability within the relatively limited variety of the current armor sets. Mix and match colors to your heart’s content!
Minecraft is officially bringing us Camels! As you’d expect, these will naturally spawn in only desert biomes. Being one of the largest mobs in the game, the camels will keep you out of reach of hostile mobs due to their height. (exception being the skeleton, of course) When tamed, two players can actually ride on one camel at the same time! This is basically a worse version of the horse but with the ability to have two players on it at once, and that’s awesome!
Unlike horses, camels are much slower in complex terrains. Although, thanks to their dash ability, they can cover flat scenes of biomes much faster. This also allows them to jump over ravines. You can breed camels using cactus. Get yourself some baby camels!
Perfectly fitting for a late Valentine’s day gift, Mojang has brought us a new pink biome in the form of Cherry Blossoms! This overworld forest biome features the new cherry blossom trees with their own pink leaves. The flowers in this biome are also pink, with petals falling from the trees and collecting on the ground.
The new wood type features light pink blocks and items. The trees here are thickly packed with unique branch generations. I’m sure that this new biome will lead to tons of creative ideas from the community as an instant favorite for many.
In conclusion, the latest Minecraft update has brought a wealth of new content and features to the game, offering players an even more immersive and engaging experience. From the introduction of new biomes and structures to the addition of unique items and mobs, the update has expanded the game’s already impressive scope and provided players with exciting new challenges to tackle. Whether you’re a veteran player or just starting out, there’s never been a better time to dive into the world of Minecraft and explore all that this fantastic update has to offer. With its endless possibilities and limitless potential, Minecraft continues to be one of the most beloved and enduring games of all time.
