ZLevels Remastered Rust Plugin
in Rust
By Nathan Young

Overview
Players tend to be familiar with normal Rust dedicated servers, as the game is programmed to be the same across the board. Whether a user mines stone or cuts down a tree, the amount of items given to them is known. In some cases, owners may feel this is too predictable or bland for their server. This may lead them to search for uMod plugins to spice up the gameplay, which introduces ZLevels Remastered. Using this on your server will allow players to obtain skills through experience points to increase their output from collecting items. For instance, chopping logs will give them more wood to use for building or creating tools. There are other features from this plugin too, such as faster crafting speed after making lots of materials. The configuration for this is flexible and highly customizable, giving owners the ability to personalize their server. As for setting this up, it’s straightforward and easily down with our panel. Although, some newcomers to the hosting scene may get confused along the way. Due to this, we’ve created this Apex Hosting tutorial to show you how to install and use the ZLevels Remastered plugin on your Rust server.

Getting Started

Once you’ve installed the plugin, you’ll notice a new UI at the bottom right corner. This location is where players can view their skill levels and percentages to increase them. Most in-game actions will contribute towards them, such as mining, crafting, or even picking up items on the ground. When someone levels up, they’ll receive a bonus for it to obtain more materials. However, players can lose specific amounts of XP for their skills upon death. This means they’ll have levels taken away from them if dying occurs often. This rate can change, depending on your configuration. Similarly, other aspects to the ZLevels Remastered plugin can be customized to your liking. The subsections below will go through these features in more detail to get you started.
Viewing Skill Stats
Instead of using the UI to view skills, executing the /stats command in-chat is an alternative. This reveals more information about the levels, including the amount of XP loss on death. The colors may be hard to read, but are configurable in the settings. By default, players should be able to use this function from the plugin without any Oxide permissions. However, this depends on the setup you decide to use for it. This feature can come in handy for viewing extra details about each skill and level.

Leveling Up Skills

Once a player obtains enough XP, their skill will level up and display a chat message. This also provides them with a new bonus for it, meaning more items become available. These messages and colors can be configured, including a public broadcast for every increased skill. The UI also automatically updates and tracks their progress towards the next level.
Max Benefits
At a certain point, players may reach the max level for their skill. This ranges depending on the type, which is also customizable in the settings. There are benefits for maxing out a skill, such as crafting allowing you to instantly finish anything. This applies to tools, weapons, building materials, among other craftable items.

However, other skills would simply have a large bonus for their action. When maxing out woodcutting, players will notice an unbelievable amount of wood being acquired.
Command List
There are some commands and permissions that may help owners better manage their server with this plugin. One of these is assigning zlevelsremastered.noxploss to make players not lose any XP upon dying in-game. This can be a huge help for some setups, among other permissions. However, it’s recommended to toggle the Enable Permission setting in the configuration to allow all of them. The following subsection will detail the process for that, but becoming an admin will completely bypass these limits. As for the commands and permissions, review the table down below to learn more about each one.
Commands | Permission | Description |

Configuration

This is done through the FTP panel, which has a built-in file editor for your convenience. The instructions below will guide you through this process to successfully make changes and apply them to the server. However, you can review our guide for more details about editing plugins.

Common Issues
Sometimes, server owners may be unable to get ZLevels Remastered working. This can be caused by installing it on the incorrect Server Profile or simply in the wrong file location. Ensure you’re using the right profile and pathway for this process, then Restart
the server to begin loading the plugin. However, incompatibility may happen if you have the following installed: Hunt RPG and CraftingController. Solving this problem requires you to uninstall them.
On rare occasions, editing the configuration doesn’t entirely go as planned. For example, changing specific values for the UI could result in everything breaking. This typically happens when incorrect formatting is used for the edits. Ensure you’re following how the file is set up, meaning you keep quotation marks, the right amount of spacing, among other aspects. Other times, owners may simply forget to Restart
the server to apply the changes.
