Overview

Enchanting in Minecraft allows you to have amazing powers, such as increased strength or endless durability. Most players always want to upgrade their gear, but there’s tons of enchantments out there. One of them is slightly confusing, especially when its effect isn’t apparent. This is known as Bane of Arthropods, an almost completely useless ability that only benefits a few players. However, specific creatures get damaged more than any level of sharpness due to this enchantment’s power. This means some mob farms are perfect for it, but many others aren’t. What is bane of arthropods? How does it work? Is it even worth it? We’ll answer all your questions in this blog to help you get the most out of your Minecraft experience. Let’s begin!

What’s Arthropods?

Minecraft Arthropods

Out of all the enchantments, arthropods only appear in one. This word isn’t too commonly used, making some players unaware about its meaning. Taking a moment to look this up reveals that arthropods are invertebrate critters, widely ranging in classifications. Essentially, these animals often have exoskeletons and cuticles made of chitin, along with other aspects. For example, insects, spiders, centipedes and other species are considered arthropods. With all that outta the way, we can use this information to explore what it means in Minecraft. Remember, there’s a few mobs that are associated with this arthropodic group of animals.

The bane of many players’ existence is finding the perfect enchantments to easily kill mobs. Most of them use sharpness, which is always a wonderful effect to have on your weapons. However, bane of arthropods hints at a specific strength against some monsters. The most notable ones are spiders and their cave counterparts, but there are others too. If you’re wanting to quickly slay these kinds of creatures, then make sure to enchant your sword with bane of arthropods since it’s more effective than sharpness. Whether you apply it with a book or get lucky in an enchantment table, it’s relatively easy to obtain.

Available Mobs

As for the different kinds of creatures to slay with this enchantment, there’s five of them in the recent versions of Minecraft. These include Spiders, Cave Spiders, Bees, Silverfish, and Endermites. The first two are the most common throughout the world, giving more value to bane of arthropods. Using this against them, especially at its strongest level should instantly land you a kill. Unfortunately, the other mobs aren’t too popular for farms or anything. In other words, spiders will be the best critter for you to slay with this enchantment.

Combat Effects

The most important aspect from the bane of arthropods enchantment is its many combat powers. Firstly, you’re gonna blast any applicable mob outta the way when the level is maxed. This is due to each one adding 2.5x strength per hit, maxing at 12.5x against these creatures. That’s a lotta damage! Additionally, there’s a slowness 4 effect applied to arthropodic mobs that stacks depending on the level. Anywhere between 1 to 3.5 seconds is the duration of this ability, as 0.5 seconds get added with every power up. Combining this with sharpness provides you with the ultimate combat effect against mobs.

Conclusion

There you have it, the bane of arthropods enchantment in Minecraft! This is a powerful ability to apply on your weapons, but can only be used against specific mobs since the majority don’t fall into the arthropodic category. Perhaps in future updates, more creatures will become available that reinforces the idea to obtain this enchantment. Whether you’re making spider farms or simply want a better sword for facing off them in caves, bane of arthropods isn’t entirely useless. We hope this blog helped you learn more about this ability and what benefits it has for you to try out. Have a good one, gamers!
