Hello everyone! I’m here back at it again to bring you quite the haul! Mojang hits us with a brand new snapshot adding another feature discussed but not shown in Minecraft Live, Powdered Snow! The mechanics behind this are…questionable, to say the least. It kind of acts like Scaffolding, to where you can sink through, but you can’t jump out. Apparently, leather boots and gear allow you to walk on top of it, which is a neat mechanic. Mojang is dubbing Powdered Snow a ‘trap block’ which I believe is a pretty apt description.
On top of this, a new status effect to go along with the new snow. If you stand in Powdered Snow for too long, you will start to freeze! Crazy, right? Your health bar will have a blue hue while you slowly lose hearts, and your FOV will accumulate snowflakes. The more leather armor that is worn, the more prevention against freezing you have, up to complete nullification. This, along with dozens of bug fixes, technical changes and much more makes for a jam-packed snapshot. You can check out the official changelog here.
Don’t worry, no need to panic. Uncle Davey is here to tell you what’s going on.
Joseph: “Red Bull” He is also catching up on sleep. Goodnight!
Aaron: Aaron is buying land and enjoying his family making their own Christmas budgets.
Dave: What am I up to? I’m making a mod! That’s right! It’ll be for 1.17, and none of the details are ironed out, so you get no information at all.
Cory: Playing Minecraft and bingo, watching TV, the likes. Sounds comfy.
For this showcase, I would like to highlight an extremely underrated mod named ‘Just Enough Effects’ which adds such an obviously intuitive feature to Minecraft.
Not only does this mod explain the mechanics behind each effect, but it also shows the progression of each effect’s levels. That’s all! Quite a useful mod, which you can check out here.
No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Minecraft actually is releasing a Star Wars DLC! Not just including famous Star Wars set pieces, but tons of fan-favorite characters, along with awesome Lightsabers! This includes tons of different areas from different timelines in the Star Wars mythos from a New Hope all the way to The Mandalorian.
Enjoy Star Wars vehicles, droids, creatures, characters, Hoth, Tatooine, Endor, Nevarro, and even Death Stars in this great mashup made for Minecraft! You can check it out on the Minecraft Marketplace on any version of Bedrock addition.
Quite an interesting week we had, this one. Powdered snow is a very unique addition to Minecraft, but I think the community will enjoy it overall. I am in favor of the new freezing effect, it seems really cool. The office is slow today, but not dead! Trust me, you’re gonna love my new mod once I release it in a year. In regards to Just Enough Effects, give it a chance! It’s such a small thing that goes a long way during gameplay for me. Lastly, can’t believe I am saying it, but Star Wars! How the h*ck did Star Wars become a DLC? Not that I’m complaining. It looks amazing, and incredibly detailed, which is the important part. Anyway, that’s all I have for you guys now, so with that said, have a great day!
