How to Toggle Valve Anti-Cheat on a V Rising Server
in V Rising
By Dalton Whalen

Overview
Whether you are playing through a V Rising server or any other game with players, there is a risk of encountering hackers. To protect against this, many servers are secured with VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) to catch and ban players. In some cases, however, server owners may wish to manually disable the use of VAC on their server. Whether this is to allow the use of external game modifications or to let VAC banned players join, this is very easy to achieve. With Apex Hosting, adjusting your V Rising game settings is streamlined with our Customizations tab, so we have created this guide to help you get started.
What is Valve Anti-Cheat?
VAC, otherwise known as Valve Anti-Cheat, is an automated system to detect and ban players using cheats on a game server. The system will keep track of players after they have connected to a VAC-Secured server. Any third-party modifications designed to provide an upper hand is classified as a cheat and will provide a ban.
While server admins can provide server bans, a VAC ban is entirely automated and will permanently remain on your account. In addition to this, VAC banned players will be unable to connect to any secured server in the future.

Why Disable VAC?
There are a few reasons to disable VAC on your V Rising server, although it primarily narrows down to preventing a ban or allowing banned users to join. If you want to test cheats or other modifications in a solo server environment without being banned, disabling VAC ahead of time will be necessary. Alternatively, making an insecure server will allow previously-banned players to join your server.
How to Disable VAC
- Navigate to your Apex server panel, then log in.
- At the top of the main page, press the
Stop
button to turn off the server. - In the left-hand menu, enter the
Customizations
tab. - Scroll down and locate the
Secure Mode
section. - Uncheck the box to the right-hand side.
- Return to the main panel page.
- Press the
Start
orRestart
button to turn your server back on.
Your V Rising server will now start up with Valve Anti-Cheat disabled!
Note: If you wish to turn Valve Anti-Cheat back on, this can be achieved by simply returning to the Customizations tab and checking the Secure Mode box once again. Afterwards, restart the server like before.
Conclusion
With that, you now know how to toggle Valve Anti-Cheat on your V Rising server. While this has many uses, please remember that you are responsible for handling the modifications on your own game. While disabling VAC on your own server will allow you to potentially test out cheats or other adjustments, ensure they are fully removed before joining any other server, especially if they are VAC-Secured. Otherwise, you are free to adjust the VAC status of your server at any time. If you wish to change it again at any time, simply return to the Customizations and change the check box. With this newfound knowledge, you are ready to adjust your server and jump into the vampiric world of V Rising!
