Terraforge Minecraft mod

Overview

The world generation in Vanilla Minecraft is a familiar sight to millions of players, being explored thoroughly over the years. After all this time, some users might desire terrain changes that alter their gameplay. This is entirely possible in Minecraft, only requiring mods to accomplish. One of these is known as TerraForged, introducing realistic and unique biomes across the world. Whether you admire the enormous mountain ranges or detailed forests, the vanilla appearance is overhauled for your enjoyment. This is an ideal mod to host a dedicated server in Minecraft to play with friends, as you and others can explore new environments. Setting it up is easily done on our panel, but may confuse newcomers to the scene. This is amplified by the extra steps to generate worlds with custom terrain, leading us to create this Apex Hosting guide to show you how to install and use TerraForged on a Minecraft server.

How to Download

  1. Navigate to TerraForged on CurseForge, then click Files near the top.
    TerraForged CurseForge
  2. Locate your desired Game Version in the list below.
  3. Once found, press its three vertical dots and click Download File.
    TerraForged Mod Download
  4. Save this mod somewhere easily accessible on your computer for later.

Client Installation

Due to this mod only being available on Forge, you’ll need to install that on your launcher. Follow this guide to begin that process, then review the steps below to set up TerraForged.

  1. Open your Minecraft launcher and press the Installations button at the top.
    Minecraft Installations
  2. Locate your previously installed Forge profile, then click its Folder icon.

  5. Return to the main launcher and continue to load Minecraft with your profile.

TerraForged Server Setup

Similar to the client installation, setting up a Forge server is required to support TerraForged in Minecraft. Once you’ve done that, follow along below to quickly install the mod on the panel.

  1. Head towards your Apex server panel, then press the Stop or Force Stop button.
    Minecraft Server Offline
  2. Continue to the top left corner and click FTP File Access, then log in accordingly.

Generating a New World

If you don’t already have a TerraForged world in Minecraft, then review the steps below to generate a new one. This process involves you changing the “Level Type” setting in the panel, then creating another world and restarting the server. Without doing this, you won’t view any new biomes from the mod in-game.

  1. Navigate to the Config Files area from the main panel, near the top left corner.
    Minecraft Config Files
  2. Once there, enter the Server Settings category and locate the Level Type option.
  3. Change its value to “terraforged” in the text field, then press Save at the bottom.
    TerraForged Level Type
  4. In the following prompt, click Create New World and proceed accordingly.

Getting Started

TerraForged Mod Guide

Once connected to your Minecraft server, there should be an immediate terrain difference. Whether you spawn in snowy mountains or custom plains, everything is changed with TerraForged. Keep in mind that a few biomes are still normal, but the vast majority are altered. If you’re having trouble locating any, consider enabling cheats or becoming a server operator to run the /terra locate command. This provides you with easy access to all available biomes and terrains from the mod. Alternatively, continue exploring to discover them without cheats. Regardless, there are many unique environments to stumble upon in Minecraft with TerraForged. With this in mind, we’ve created multiple subsections below to help you get started.

Realistic Terrain

TerraForged Snow Biome

One of the key features of the mod is realistic terrain, as noted throughout the Minecraft world. For example, large mountainous environments gradually grow and level out. In other words, you’ll see subtle slopes forming them rather than an immediate spike. This adds a sense of realism to the game, which is commonly used in modpacks. There are even different kinds of mountains to find in Minecraft.

TerraForged Mountains

Instead of grass, granite and other stones might be used to create mountains. These are also viable places to collect resources such as coal and iron ore. This is an ideal place to explore, especially if you get lucky enough to stumble on mineral deposits. Otherwise, it’s a wonderful environment for building bases due to its surrounding scenery. Keep in mind that this varies across biomes and may appear differently.

TerraForged Plains

The realism aspect of TerraForged doesn’t stop at mountains, as now plains are truly flat landscapes great for building. These areas are known for their lack of trees but can have the occasional bush for some resources. We highly recommend checking this biome out in-game. However, make note that there can be some variations to them since the mod’s generation can be unpredictable at times.

Eventually, as you continue exploring the plains, new blocks may appear in the mix. This adds diversity to the Minecraft world, leading to an interesting adventure with friends. Finding structures in these environments will be easy, especially due to the lack of trees and forests. The plains will slowly rise over time and connect to other biomes and terrains, creating a realistic world in the process.

TerraForged Biomes

Better Rivers

TerraForged Rivers
TerraForged Villages

Another unique feature from the TerraForged mod that may get overlooked by players is realistic rivers. The flow of water now appears to be connected rather than broken up like in Vanilla Minecraft. There are even appropriate height differences to add to the realism, along with extra blocks commonly found in rivers. This means you can craft a boat and float along its stream to easily discover new areas in the world. No longer will you and others alike have to build pathways or leap from one river to another. This feature is considered a quality of life change, as it doesn’t play too much of an important role. Nonetheless, it’s a wonderful addition to the complete overhaul of Minecraft with the mod.

Enhanced Forests

There are many kinds of forests in Minecraft, which are all now redesigned with TerraForged. The trees are customized and tailored to be more appealing, along with patches of grass and dirt variations on the ground. In some cases, there are even some large bushes to find, adding to the overall appearance of these forests. Similar concepts are applied to them all across each biome.

TerraForged Dark Forest

TerraForged Forest

Running through forests can be challenging, as there are many obstacles to overcome like low-hanging leaves or small trees grouped. Fortunately, the mod offers a new way to travel through these locations. There’ll be trees much higher than before, combined with subtle areas to traverse with friends. Besides this, it also makes collecting wood and other resources a lot simpler.

TerraForged Flower Forest

Other types of forests include a bunch of flowers with a mixture of trees, with the majority being tall birch types. Building houses in this biome is a great way to enjoy the stunning scenery. Otherwise, those who want dyes can collect flowers all around the forest. Regardless of your desires, this type of environment adds more diversity to the Minecraft world.

TerraForged Jungle

Another unique forest is similar to jungles, but with moderate-sized trees instead of tall ones. This is by far the best biome to gather wood, as it’s readily accessible and abundant in this area. Making tree houses or villages connected with bridges is what many do with the TerraForged mod. The possibilities are endless with its fascinating generation, especially when it meshes with other biomes.

Unique Biomes

TerraForged Custom Biomes
TerraForged Badlands

Besides familiar biomes, there’ll be unique ones to discover in Minecraft from the TerraForged mod. These might include stone forests with large spikes or strange badland islands full of gold. The amount of new areas to explore is immense, so we suggest traveling across the world to stumble on them all. If you feel as if there isn’t enough, then consider installing extra biome mods. TerraForged offers a streamlined support system for most of them, meaning it’ll blend and mix other modded terrains. This creates the ultimate experience in Minecraft, especially when using other addons to truly become encapsulated with the game.

Common Issues

Cannot Join Forge Server

In cases where you’re unable to join the Forge server, make sure that you’ve correctly installed TerraForged on your launcher. This means checking if its file is stored in the local mods directory on your computer, along with a viable profile to load it. The same concept applies to the server, meaning that Forge must be selected in the Game File area of your panel with TerraForged installed appropriately. However, other issues might be causing the overall situation too. For example, having an outdated graphics card can trigger “GL Errors” to crash your client. Fixing this is as simple as updating your GPU in its respective application, but allocating more memory to the Minecraft launcher is another option too. Alternatively, uninstalling or updating Optifine and other client-sided mods might prove useful.

Unable to Generate World

If you’re having trouble loading up a TerraForged world in multiplayer, double-check the Level Type field in the Server Settings area. This is accessible through the Config Files section of the main panel but can be done manually through FTP to edit the hardfile. Once there, confirm the option’s value reads “terraforged” and nothing else. This means no extra capitalization, spacing, or other characters. After ensuring no problems are here, save the changes and generate a new world. Once everything is loaded, join the Minecraft server to begin experiencing TerraForged. However, having other biome mods might cause some problems depending on what you’ve installed. We encourage you to remove them and confirm there’s compatibility before proceeding.

My Game / Server is Lagging

Another common issue to encounter is lag either on your Minecraft client or server. This tends to happen when there are too many mods installed, which can be resolved by removing some. Otherwise, consider reviewing our Modded Optimization Guide to check for performance-enhancing addons to help resolve the situation. For example, setting up AI Improvements or RandomPatches can significantly improve the lag. If you still have concerns or problems with performance, consider reaching out to our 24/7 Support Team for detailed assistance. We’ll work with you to reach viable solutions to fix any lag on your server and client.
