Overview
When playing on any large Minecraft server, the lobby is often an integral part of the experience. Depending on the aesthetics, functionality, and possible rewards within a lobby, it can make or break your choice to remain on a server and play it. With the Preset Lobby gametype, you can get a head start on impressing players with a full spawn world and ready-to-configure plugins. Installing gametypes and knowing where to configure plugins can be confusing for unfamiliar players, so we have created this Apex Hosting guide to ease you through the setup process.
How to Install Preset Lobby
- Navigate to the Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
- When using gametypes, we recommend using the
Reset Server Files
to remove all files. - Scroll down to the
Game File
section, then open the dropdown menu. - Select
Preset Lobby
from the list, then pressUse Included World
when prompted. - Restart the server to load up the premade version.
Features
Upon first joining the preset lobby, there will be many noticeable gameplay additions that are immediately present and can be found throughout the area.
Beautiful Spawn Landscape
When you first load into the lobby, you will be greeted by a large wintertime landscape complete with snow, trees, hot air balloons, and numerous houses to visit.
Whether you choose to climb the large tree in the center or check out the decorations in each building, there will be plenty to explore.
Custom Scoreboard
To the right of your screen you will find a custom scoreboard with plenty of information such as your playername, rank, ping, and more. This menu can additionally be customized to display any information that you desire.
Cosmetics
By right-clicking the nether star, you can open and access the cosmetics menu to gain access to several cosmetic items available in the lobby.
With hats, particles, banners, and more, you can stand out in a crowd with your unique cosmetic customizations.
Server Connector
Another item in your inventory will be the server selector compass. While not operational by default, this can be configured to connect to your other servers and display messages based around that functionality.
Mystery Vault Boxes
As you play on the server, you can configure the ability to earn mystery boxes through gameplay. Exchanging these within the lobby will give the ability to unlock new cosmetics or earn dust to craft more boxes.
Parkour
If you’re feeling bored, step onto the parkour plate to test out your abilities. These will place new blocks every jump, giving a randomized parkour experience.
Configuration
With so many plugins and experiences available within the lobby, you may wish to customize the experience to make it personalized. This can be done by accessing the following:
- Navigate to the Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
- Proceed to the
FTP File Access
on the left-hand side. - Locate and enter the
plugins
folder to gain access to all plugin configs. - From here, you can select a plugin folder and edit the .yml files to suit your needs.
Customizing the Server List MOTD
Unlike vanilla Minecraft, the Preset Lobby version has a plugin dedicated to customizing the MOTD in the Multiplayer menu. To edit this file, visit the ServerListPlus
folder, then press Edit
to the right of ServerListPlus.yml
.
Here, you can completely customize the MOTD to provide separate information and placeholders.
Scoreboard Customization
Similar to the previous plugin, you can edit the scoreboard on the screen by proceeding to the “QuickBoard” folder, then the “scoreboards” folder. Here, you can edit the “scoreboard.default.yml” file.
All of the text, placeholders, and other information can be changed to display whatever you desire. From player ranks, online information, and your server’s IP, this can be personalized to suit your desired theme.
Server Selector Configuration
In order to customize and give functionality, you must edit the menu information within the “DeluxeMenus” plugin folder. From here, you can enter the “gui_menus” folder, then edit the “basics_menu.yml” file.
Using placeholders and information, you can configure either a right-click or left-click to connect to a server.
Conclusion
With that, you now know how to install and get started with the Apex Preset Lobby gametype. With plenty of plugins to get started and ready-for-configuration options, this gametype is ready to be used with Multiverse worlds or other gametype servers. From anti-grief to cosmetics, your server is ready to be used with a Bungeecord setup and operated to its fullest potential!
