Quality Tools Minecraft Mod

Overview
Whether you’re enchanting armor or trying to upgrade your equipment, many players in Vanilla Minecraft always want the best gear for their adventures. This can be time consuming and difficult to accomplish, leading some players to search for better alternatives. One of the most popular ways to get powerful weapons and tools is using modifications to introduce new features to Minecraft. If you’re wanting unique abilities on your equipment for better combat, movement, or mining, then consider trying the Quality Tools mod. Using this on your server allows players to craft normal items, but gets assigned random powers that resemble enchantments. There’s even a special station to change them around, giving you plenty of opportunities to get strong gear. Additionally, you have the ability to completely customize the mod’s features and possibly combine it with custom items. Setting this up is quickly done on our panel, as it only takes a few minutes. However, some users may be unfamiliar with our system and become confused about this process. Due to this, we’ve created this Apex Hosting tutorial to show you how to install and use Quality Tools on your Minecraft server.

Getting Started
After joining the server, start off by collecting resources to craft armor, weapons, and tools. Whether you’re wanting diamond or iron based gear, make sure to have enough materials for everything. This modification automatically applies unique powers to your equipment after crafting them. Keep this in mind when you make anything, as you may want to refrain from wasting resources. Additionally, there are plenty of other items that’ll have these abilities too. We’ll break them all down in the following subsections, plus showing you how to change them if you’re unhappy with the results. There’s other useful tips and tricks to maximize your gameplay experience, which will help you get started with the Quality Tools mod in Minecraft.
Available Items
As hinted above, there are countless items available for receiving special powers. These include all tools, swords, armor pieces, among bows, sheers, horse armor, fishing rods, and totems. This means any type of pickaxe will have unique properties, which might be helpful or negative depending on your luck. Remember that other items can have these custom abilities, but must be configured in the mod’s settings.
We’ll show you how to do that later on, but the default options allow you to have mostly everything already.
Quality Levels
As for the different types of powers, these are categorized into specific qualities. There are normally 17 ones to possibly receive, but changes depending on the item. For example, armor will have different kinds compared to pickaxes. Besides this, it’s worth noting that some powers may indirectly buff your character rather than the gear itself. In other words, having stronger attacks on armor will give any weapon you wield better stats. Due to the overwhelming number of qualities, we cannot go through them all. However, we’ll show you popular levels down below and give you more insight into their specifications.
Powerful
Starting off with the best possible quality for your item, Legendary gives it four abilities that’ll help you fight, mine, or move around depending on the piece of gear. For example, swords with this level receive dig and attack speed, extra damage, plus more reach distance. This similar concept is applied on armor and other tools, meaning you will have four powers on the item.
Other times, you may get Masterful levels or similar ones. These provide you with around three abilities, instead of four.
Decent
Instead of getting the best possible quality level for your item, most of the time it’ll be acceptable ones. For example, the vast majority of powers will only be one or two rather than four. However, sometimes it can have negative effects combined with good types.
This can be frustrating, as everyone wants powerful gear. An instance of this happening is when you’ve made a pair of boots with better toughness, but slower speed. Expect these kinds of powers most of the time, unless you get real lucky with qualities.
Really Bad
If you’re unlucky, then your item will get a lot of negative powers. For example, Worthless is considered the worst quality to possibly receive on equipment. This gives you worse stats overall, while other levels may give you two or three. It’s strongly recommended to avoid using anything with poor abilities, as this may do more harm than good.
Fortunately, there’s a way to completely change the quality of your gear. However, remaking the item in a crafting table is another method to change its levels, but takes more resources.
Reforging Station
In cases where you’re unsatisfied with a quality level, you have the option to build a Reforging Station. Players must collect and make the following for its crafting recipe: 2x Stone Slabs, 1x Anvil, 1x Workbench, and 2x Obsidian. This makes the station a bit expensive, so don’t expect to get it early in the game. However, it’ll be well worth it since changing qualities will come in handy.
Once you’ve crafted this station, place it down in your base to begin using it. This has a unique texture, as it combines blocks together that were used for its creation. Additionally, items are displayed on top of it when you’ve prepared for the reforging process. If you’re a builder, then this feature might be perfect for you to add extra details in bases. However, this isn’t the main functionality of the station.
Getting started with this process requires you to right-click
the station, then place your items inside of its GUI menu. The top slot needs to be applicable gear, meaning weapons, tools, armor, among others. As for the bottom slot, this needs a mineral to initiate the quality change. This must match the item’s material, meaning a gold sword needs gold ingots for reforging.
Players can do this unlimited times, so having enough resources is suggested when altering power levels.
Tips & Tricks
There’s lots of helpful information to keep in mind when using the Quality Tools modification on your Minecraft server. This includes resource management, equipment collecting, and supporting custom items from other mods. Some of them may appear common sense, but still worth mentioning to ensure you know useful methods to maximize your experience. The subsections below will give some tips and tricks to help your in-game progression.
Villager Trading
An excellent way to obtain items with applied quality levels is trading with villagers, specifically blacksmiths. This may take more resources though, such as emeralds or other resources. However, leveling up their trades will give you enchanted equipment with additional powers already on it. There are other villager jobs that may provide you with other items too. This might be the best way to begin collecting your legendary gear. Otherwise, there’s another method to accomplish this same feat.
Saving Materials
Instead of spending resources to get valuable quality levels, players can simply save up enough for them. This means you’ll need to explore cave systems a lot more than usual, then mining every ore you see. Whether you’re wanting iron or diamonds, make sure to collect everything. If you’ve crafted a legendary item that isn’t made from the best materials, its powers may make it better than anything else. Regardless of how you do this, saving resources is heavily suggested.
Mod Support
As for custom items from other modifications, you’re permitted to integrate them with Quality Tools. Although, you’ll need to install Baubles to gain this functionality. Make sure to also include your other mods for more weapons, tools, armor, or anything else. For example, installing The Aether on your server allows players to find or craft new items. However, tweaking the configuration and/or making entirely new quality levels might be required for this process.
It all boils down to your desired setup, but should be compatible nonetheless. Review the “Configuration” section for more information about editing its settings.
Configuration
If you’re wanting to customize Quality Tools in any way, then we strongly advise reviewing their Official Wiki page. This gives you a detailed look into creating new powers or tweaking existing files from the modification. As for accessing them, it’ll require you to use the FTP panel. Fortunately, we have a built-in file editor to make this entire process easier for you. When you’re ready, follow the steps below to start making your desired changes.
- Navigate to the
FTP File Access
area and login with your password. - Once there, proceed to this pathway:
…/config/qualitytools
- Locate your desired config file, then press
Edit
to the right of it.Note: The “Qualities” subdirectory contains all levels for every available item.
- Make your changes in the file editor, then click
Save
at the top. - Return to the main panel and
Restart
the server to apply these edits.
Common Issues
In some cases, players may be unable to join the server due to numerous reasons. An extremely common one to encounter is entering an incorrect IP Address:Port or Subdomain when making the connection. This information is verifiable on the main panel, so make sure you and others understand the address to successfully join. However, another problem that may appear is having an invalid launcher configuration. This happens when either failing to install Forge and its correct game version or simply not having the mods in the correct file location. Ensure everything is set up properly, including Quality Tools and its Potion Core dependency in the mods directory.
Another common issue to have is noticing the modification isn’t functioning properly. This may happen due to an incorrect installation on the server, especially if there’s missing requirements. For example, not having Forge selected in the Game File area will result in the situation. Other times, not fully uploading the downloaded files to the mods directory can cause Quality Tools to not even load. Double check everything is correctly set up, then try again. However, it may be worth creating a new Server Profile so no pre-existing mods or configurations cause internal conflict. Similar concepts are applied to the launcher as well, so ensure its properly set up too.
