Minecraft Experience 2024 – Review

Before we jump into what the whole event was like – let me give my thoughts first. I attended Minecraft Experience on Oct 24th, which is close to its grand opening on the 18th. There were lots of people, but not too many that it was overwhelming. The staff were respectful, nice, and entertaining! It was honestly more fun than I originally expected, especially from what I heard online. Take it from me, the Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue was amazing! You use these cool orbs to interact with the environment around you, such as collecting resources, fighting mobs, and creating obsidian. The whole goal is to save the villagers from becoming zombies, taking you on a journey through various biomes and the Nether. If you’re close or have enough funds saved up, I highly recommend attending this epic event.

The Tutorial

The first interactive room is the tutorial, an area where you can familiarize yourself with the orb and use it to collect apples. You’ll also be able to slay zombies, collect oak wood, and take selfies with various props.

This area is perfect for asking questions, as a couple staff members are around to assist you. On average, it will take 15 – 20 minutes to enter the next room. It all depends on the pace of the group ahead of you and the number of them.

Introduction

When you’re past the tutorial stage, you get introduced to the main story! Use the orb to help the village reinforce their houses, farms, and other structures – while getting resources. After a bit, tons of zombies will begin entering the scene.

Most of the villagers will slowly become zombified and cutscenes will start playing. You’re tasked with obtaining several items, used for creating golden apples and a potion of weakness. These two items will save the villagers!

Collecting Ingredients

Continuing your adventure at Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue, the next area will take you in swamps, snowy mountains, and underwater caves. Each biome will have their unique items to collect, with some being in chests.

Make sure to collect them all, as it’s being stored in your orb. Essentially, your group or team will need to gather enough resources to save the villagers. Luckily this area doesn’t involve fighting, so you’re safe to take your time.

Fighting Mobs

Heading towards a mineshaft you’ll need to slay various mobs to get their items. The spiders specifically are the main threat, as they will constantly surround you. Occasionally, creepers will pop out until they fill the entire screen – ending in a bang! Use your orb to slay them all and declare victory. Beyond this, there’s a minecart in the middle of the room that’s perfect for a picture. Make sure to take advantage of that opportunity, as you won’t get another.

Making Obsidian

In order to reach the Nether, you need to first build a Nether portal. This involves using lava and water to create obsidian. Your team must work together to collect these liquids, then combine them properly. Place lava first, then use water to successfully generate obsidian!

Afterwards, one person needs to take that block and place it by the Nether portal. Depending on your speed, this process can be completed in no time.

The Nether

Once you have all the required obsidian blocks, the Nether portal will activate! Walk through and be amazed by a room that mimics the teleporting effect.

It can be a bit confusing at first, so we recommend hanging around the sides or corners – as you can be disoriented due to the lights & reflections.

Depending on the group ahead of yours, it could take some time to enter the Nether dimension. Sit back and relax during this process, along with taking pictures!

Besides this, it may also be warm or even hot for some attendees in this room. That’s at least what I experienced during my time at the event.

Nether Fortress

Cross over lava and reach the other side to throw snowballs at blazes and wither skeletons. Continue doing this until the main boss appears, which is a large blaze that has a lot of HP. Make sure your throw and aim are good, as it can be pretty challenging to actually hit your target. In most cases, you might have to stand behind someone to throw snowballs since not enough stations are available.

This is especially true for groups of 25 people, so be kind and ask for snowballs if they aren’t readily accessible.

Saving The Villagers

At the end of Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue, all attendees must place their orbs on a crafting table and brewing stands. This effectively mimics the process of creating golden apples and potions of weakness. After a few minutes, the final cutscene will play on the big screen. You just saved the villagers from being zombified! When all is said and done, you can enter the gift shop area to purchase goodies for the ride home. If you’re a VIP member, then make sure to pick up your exclusive items!

Minecraft Experience Cape

A day or so later, the person who purchased the ticket(s) will receive their very own Minecraft Experience Cape via email. Use this code for your account or give it to a friend, as this is available for Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition. This will become a rare cape to own, so don’t miss out on using your code(s). Follow the instructions in the email to successfully get the cape! Afterwards, you might have to equip it first in Bedrock for the cape to appear in Java Edition.
