Overview
When playing on a server, there may come the time where you decide to add a password, requiring players to enter it correctly in order to join. This can occur for many reasons, such as wanting to make sure only approved players can join, temporarily limiting access to work on the server, and more. With Apex Hosting, changing your ARK server password is very easy, so today we will show you how to achieve it.
Panel Configuration
- Navigate to your Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
- On the left-hand side, access the
Customizations
tab. - From here, locate the
Server Password
field. - Change the server password, then return to the main panel page.
- Start the server to launch with your chosen password
Manual Configuration
This method is a bit more complicated, but it supports adjustments through the server’s FTP area.
- Navigate to your Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
- Proceed to the
FTP File Access
, then log in. - Navigate to /ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/
- Press
Edit
to the far-right of GameUserSettings.ini. - Locate the
ServerPassword=
field, then enter your desired password. - Press
save
once complete, then start the server.
Conclusion
With that, your server should now have a password on it, requiring any player who joins to enter it. This is a great option to ensure an extra level of security on the server, so only trusted people can join, even if they have the server’s IP address. By simply choosing who to give the password to, you can change who joins at any time. In addition, if you set a password and keep it to yourself, this will allow only you to join, which can be very helpful when modifying the server and performing tests. Now that you know how to set an ARK password, you can begin your adventures!
