Overview

When running a Minecraft server, having a successful economy is often vital to promote player trading and effort. While shops can be configured to sell blocks and items, this can often become repetitive and does not promote a variety of gameplay styles. This is solved with Jobs Reborn, a Minecraft plugin that provides payment for simply playing the game. Whether you are an explorer, miner, builder, and more, you can earn in-game currency for simply performing these everyday tasks. If the default setup is not preferred, you can even create or edit existing jobs to suit your server’s style. Once players are capable of earning money through normal gameplay, the grind feels much less tedious for everyone involved. Installing and configuring plugins is easy with Apex Hosting, so we have created this guide to help you get started.

Summary

JobsReborn is created by Zrips on Spigot, spanning from version 1.7 to 1.19 at the time of writing. With well over 380,000 downloads, the plugin is very popular for a server economy. With this plugin, players can join a variety of jobs to earn in-game currency. In addition to this, several customization options will allow you to change the pay rate, create custom jobs, and much more.

In-Game Usage

Once you join the server, nothing may appear different at first, however you may now find that you can use the /jobs command. The plugin is configured to work out of the box and has a few different features that are of interest.

Introduction to Jobs

While there are many commands that can be used, the most important will be /jobs browse. This will open a GUI that will allow you to view and join any available jobs. There are many available by default that will provide money for different tasks. These include:

Brewer: Brew potions.
Builder: Building structures.
Crafter: Crafting items.
Digger: Terraforming the world.
Enchanter: Enchanting weapons.
Explorer: Exploring the world.
Farmer: Farming crops.
Fisherman: Going fishing.
Hunter: Killing mobs.
Miner: Mining minerals and ores.
Weaponsmith: Crafting and repairing weapons.
Woodcutter: Felling and planting trees.

Jobs Reborn GUI

Once a job is joined, you can begin working on a task to start earning in-game currency!

Using Signs

Jobs Reborn Signs

In addition to using commands, signs can be created to achieve the same result. To achieve this, simply enter [jobs] in the top line, then any command in the following lines. This will allow you to create quick access signs to join jobs, leave, view stats, and much more.

Jobs Reborn Sign Example

Signs can use nearly every player command available. This is most effective for signs allowing you to join or leave a specific job. To do this, simply add the first line as [jobs], followed by join and the job title. For example:

[jobs]
join
crafter

[jobs]
leave
crafter

Plugin Configuration

While the plugin is functional by default, there are many different configuration files that can be adjusted.

  1. Visit the Apex Panel page, then ensure the server is offline.
  2. Enter the FTP File Access, then log in.
  3. Navigate to the plugins folder followed by the Jobs folder.

Here you will find a variety of config files that can be adjusted to your liking. From adding new jobs to adjusting the plugin in general, almost anything can be tweaked here.

generalConfig.yml - The general plugin configuration for most options.
schedule.yml - Configurable boosts for job EXP and money rate.
shopItems.yml - Adds custom items to the plugin shop with conditions to purchase.
titleConfig.yml - Custom titles and colors for job levels.
job .yml files - Allows you to edit or create new jobs.

Notable Commands

Jobs Reborn has many plugins that are available for use. Below are some of the most notable that can be used. For a full list, visit the Jobs Reborn wiki.

/jobs join [jobname] - Join the specified job.
/jobs quests - Displays the available quests for the player/
/jobs browse - Opens the GUI to view jobs.
/jobs fire [jobname] [playername] - Fire a player from a job.
/jobs leave [jobname] - Leave the specified job.
/jobs reload - Reload the Jobs Reborn plugin.
/jobs stats - Print the player’s job stats.
/jobs toggle [bossbar/actionbar] - Toggle the display type from appearing.

Common Issues

None of the plugin commands are working:
If the plugin does not seem to be working, try to use the /plugins command from in-game. If the plugin is not listed, ensure it was uploaded into the plugins folder properly. If the plugin appears in red, an update may be required and need to replace the existing file. Once these have been solved, restart the server once more and try again.

I am experiencing issues after editing a config file:
If you edited one of the config files and are now encountering issues, there may be a formatting error within the text. Return to the part that you edited and ensure the formatting looks correct compared to the other lines. Any missing quotations, colons, and more can cause the file to be incorrect. If you cannot find the issue, delete the entire config file so the server can generate a fresh version. Following these changes, restart the server.
