How to Change a 7 Days to Die Server Name

When hosting a 7 Days to Die server, keeping your server memorable is vital to retain new players. There are many ways to achieve this with the various server settings, however the most important is the server name. They say first impressions are the most important and this is especially true for game servers. Whether you choose a professional-looking name, keep it simplistic, or even something silly just for yourself and friends, this can all be achieved. With Apex Hosting, changing your 7 Days to Die server name is as easy as filling out a text field, so we have created this tutorial to ease you through the setup steps.
Changing the Server Name
- Navigate to the Apex Server Panel, then stop the server.
- In the left-hand menu, enter the

- Ensure the server is set to appear Publicly.
- Afterwards, return to the main panel page and restart the server.
The server will now start up using your selected server name! Once you start the game, the server’s name can now be found in the server browser.
Viewing the Results In-Game
Once 7 Days to Die is started, you can proceed to the “Join a Game” section from the main menu. Here you can search for the server name before starting a search, allowing you to find the server in-game.
The server name you selected will be available in both the normal server browser as well as the server history. This will allow players to easily find your server again or simply keep it memorable.

The name does not change in-game:
When this occurs, it can often be caused by the server not restarting properly. Ensure that the server was offline before making any changes, then fully restart afterwards for these changes to take effect. You can confirm the server has restarted by checking the Console tab during the startup process. If issues are still occurring, try to restart 7 Days to Die to ensure the server list is refreshed.
My server can’t be found in the server browser:
This is often an issue if the server is not set to appear in a public environment. To fix this, return to the Apex Panel and visit the Customizations tab. Under Server Visibility, make sure the server is set to appear in the Public list. Once this is done, restart the server and check the game once more.
