Overview

Breeding horses in Minecraft can be difficult, as you must find a suitable pair for the best stats. Most players want a quick and durable stead in their world since it makes traveling easier. Fortunately, using the Horse Expert mod for Forge and Fabric allows you to conveniently view all their stats. This helps when finding or breeding these mobs, including llamas too. Whether you already have a farm or are trying to locate the best ones in the wild, this mod comes in handy. As for its setup, the process is straightforward and easily done to play with friends. Sadly, newcomers to the modding scene may be unfamiliar with everything. Due to this, we’ve created this Apex Hosting guide to show you how to install and use Horse Expert on your Minecraft server.
 

How to Download

1. Navigate to Horse Expert on CurseForge, then click Files near the top.
   
2. Locate your desired Game Version and Mod Loader in the list below.
3. Once found, press its three vertical dots on the right and click Download File.
   
4. Save this file somewhere easily accessible on your computer for later.

Repeat this process for Puzzles Lib and Curios API if you’re using Forge for this setup. As for Fabric, do the same for the following mods: Puzzles Lib, Curios API, Fabric API. Without doing this, Horse Expert will not be able to load on the Minecraft server or launcher. This makes them extremely important, as they’re dependencies so everything works as intended.

Client Installation

Before using Horse Expert in Minecraft, you’ll need to install Forge or Fabric on the launcher. This is required for any mods to work properly in-game, making it important to complete. After doing this, follow along below to install it on your client.

1. Open your Minecraft launcher and click Installations near the top of your screen.
   
2. Locate your previously installed modded profile, then press its Folder icon.
   
3. In the newly opened window, find and enter the mods directory from the list.
   Note: If you don’t see this, then create it before proceeding with the installation.
4. While inside this area, drag and drop the downloaded files accordingly.
   
5. Once you’re finished, return to the launcher and press the Play button on your profile.

Server Installation

Similar to the above section, you’ll need to install Forge or Fabric on the Minecraft server to support mods. This is accomplished by selecting it with your corresponding version in the Game File area on the main panel, then restarting it to generate its required files. Once you’ve done this, follow the steps below to install Horse Expert on your Minecraft server.

1. Head towards your Apex server panel and click FTP File Access near the top left.
   
2. Type your Password in the text box and press the Login button to gain access.
   
3. Find and enter the mods directory from the list, then at the top left corner click Upload.
4. Proceed to drag and drop the downloaded files into the respective area.
   
5. Wait for them to reach 100%, then return to the main panel and Restart the server.

Getting Started

Upon joining the server, you’ll want to gather basic resources if you haven’t already. This is due to a specific item that you must craft before viewing horse or llama stats in-game. After you’ve done this, taming the animal is also needed before anything. This process involves you constantly trying to ride the mob until it shows the heart particles. Once you see this, all its available statistics should become available to you. Use this information to help you find or breed the perfect horse in Minecraft, granting better transportation. Monocle Recipe

While in your Minecraft world, grab x4 Gold Nuggets and x1 Glass Pane to create the needed item to view stats. This is known as a Monocle, which goes on your head in-game. Place the nuggets in the middle slots on each side, then the glass in the center to craft this item. This makes the recipe relatively easy and inexpensive to make but might involve mining for materials. All players must have a monocle to see the stats of their horse or llama.

Viewing Stats

As for viewing animal stats, you’ll need to first tame them beforehand. This is done by riding the horse or llama until seeing heart particles. After doing this, simply look at the mob to have an overlay of its stats appear on your screen. Players will notice the minimum and maximum health, along with speed and jump height respectively. Keep in mind that this information can be used to help you breed powerful animals, but could be for killing off weak ones instead.

Animal Breeding

We highly suggest making a pin for your horses or llamas, as this way you can safely breed them. Remember, tame them before doing anything so you can accurately see their stats. Use their corresponding items to make them have a baby mob, such as golden carrots. After a newborn appears in-game, you’ll have to tame them too for viewing stats. This process can take some time, you may need to find suitable animals in the wild. However, it’s worthwhile to get the best horse or llama in Minecraft.

Common Issues

In cases where you’re unable to join the Minecraft server, but can safely load the game, then consider reviewing the panel configuration. This means you should check if Forge or Fabric is selected in the Game File area, along with seeing if the corresponding files are uploaded into the mods directory via the FTP panel. Remember that everything has to match, meaning the versions align properly. For example, having Forge 1.18.2 while on 1.20.1 won’t work properly. A similar concept is applied on the client side of things, as you need to ensure the files are transferred to the mods folder on your computer. Additionally, make sure you’ve installed the correct loader on the launcher to support Horse Expert. On rare occasions, other modifications will be incompatible with this one and requires some troubleshooting. While in-game and players are unable to see stats, then make sure they’re wearing the Monocle. Remember this is required before viewing anything about your horse or llama. This item requires x4 Gold Nuggets and x1 Glass Pane, which the JEI mod reveals if you have any issues finding its recipe. However, if the player(s) have this equipped properly and the situation persists, then this could mean there’s an underlying issue. Double-check the installation and profile used to launch Minecraft since that can impact viewing stats.
