Minecraft players might want to spice up their gameplay with new textures, as the original pixelated graphics can get old for some. Fortunately, resource packs are available online to solve that! One popular style to choose from is realistic textures in Minecraft, which increases the immersion of the game. If this sounds interesting, then consider using the Faithful resource pack! This expands Minecraft’s graphics by making each block and item have 32x or 64x pixels, resulting in stunning visuals. It’s even possible to try this on your dedicated server, allowing you and others to enjoy the same texture pack. However, some users might be unfamiliar with the process of using them in-game. Due to this, we’ve created this Apex Hosting guide to show you how to install and play with the Faithful resource pack in Minecraft.
How to Download
- Navigate to Faithful on CurseForge, then click
Files
at the top. - Locate your desired
Game Version
in the list below on this page. - Once found, click on the three vertical dots and press the
Download File
button. - Save this file somewhere easily accessible on your computer for later.
Optional: Repeat this process, but for the 64x version for better textures.
Client Installation
Minecraft makes it super easy to install resource packs, as all it takes is navigating through the main menu and dragging the file into a folder. The following steps will help you achieve this task. However, we recommend installing Optifine for the best in-game results. This gives you the ability to use shaders, amplifying the realism of Faithful. Keep in mind that this is completely optional and isn’t required to get started.
- Launch Minecraft and press the
Options
button in the main menu. - Continue to click
Resource Packs
, thenOpen Pack Folder
. - In the newly opened window, drag and drop the downloaded file into this folder.
- Return to Minecraft and click the
Arrow
icon to activate the pack. - Confirm this change by pressing the
Done
button, then wait for it to load.
Server Installation
Minecraft server owners looking to install Faithful will need to review this guide. The setup requires you to upload the zipped file into an external service, and then use its new download link in your Apex server panel settings. This doesn’t take too much time but can become prolonged for some users. We advise checking the linked tutorial above so you can follow along to easily install the Faithful texture pack on your Minecraft server. Faithful Showcase
This resource pack transforms the simplicity of Minecraft into a realistic environment. Players will find themselves in a world of more detail, especially with the 64x version of Faithful. Examples include enhanced grass, stone, wood, tools, and even mobs. Remember, this pack only increases the realism of the game and won’t entirely change its overall aesthetic. Whether you’re on a Minecraft server or singleplayer world, we suggest enabling cheats or becoming an operator to easily view the new textures. Otherwise, the following subsections will showcase important blocks and items from Faithful. Additionally, we’ll review the comparison between both pack versions to give you a better understanding.
Enhanced Textures
What is the difference between 32x and 64x pixels in Minecraft? The increased amount allows for higher resolution, resulting in greater detail. In other words, smaller pixel sizes means less realism in the world. Each block face will have these resolutions, which is what Faithful focuses on to improve Minecraft’s quality. It’s encouraged to avoid higher pixel sizes if you begin to lag.
Building & Interactive Blocks
The most important blocks in Minecraft are the ones used for building and crafting items, such as wood or stone. These now have a smoother – yet detailed complexion compared to vanilla textures. The difference is mainly noticed when playing the game, as it’s only revamping original Minecraft. This applies for doors, fences, ores, crops, and everything else in the world that players will encounter.
After crafting chests, crafting tables, ender chests, pistons, and other interactive blocks, you’ll notice extra details. Remember, there are more pixels for each texture seen in-game. This increases the realism in Minecraft, especially with nearby light sources and shaders. Even particles get reshaped to complement other textures from the Faithful pack.
Equipment & Food Items
Similar concepts apply to all items, such as pickaxes and elytras. Players won’t have to see the massive pixels on their tools now, as the Faithful texture pack for Minecraft smoothes it out. This even includes armor, making them visibly different from vanilla. Many users prefer this resource pack for combat or screenshots, as it makes the game feel truly immersive.
Apples, melons, carrots, cakes, pork chops, and plenty of other food items also get revamped. They still resemble their original textures, but appear more suitable for consumption due to their increased pixels. This is amplified with the 64x version of the Faithful resource pack!
Passive & Hostile Mobs
As you might have guessed, passive mobs are also changed to reflect a more realistic experience in Minecraft. Unlike other items or blocks, these are almost identical to vanilla textures. The primary difference is their faces and specific details, such as villagers or sheep. It’s harder for players to notice these changes in smaller mobs compared to larger ones.
Hostile mobs are also changed, just as the passive animals are too. Spiders, zombies, and creepers have noticeable differences, as they have lots of details compared to other monsters. Endermen are mainly black, so players won’t see too much of a change. These are a small amount of mobs in Minecraft, so be on the lookout for others.
Resource Pack FAQ
This roughly means that you are using an outdated version of Minecraft when trying to use the resource pack. The vast majority of the time this message can be dismissed, as it’s not too problematic. However, there are two easy ways to solve this problem. The first is to reinstall the texture pack for your desired Minecraft version. Otherwise, you can switch game versions to match what you’ve already installed.
You can solve this situation by tweaking your shader settings in the Minecraft options. In rare cases, this won’t work due to incompatibility. We recommend trying other shader packs to find ones that function properly with Faithful – but most will be fine.
Proceed to your server settings and enable the “Require Resource Pack” setting, then restarting to apply the changes. Afterward, players joining the game will be prompted to download and use the Faithful texture pack. Keep in mind that some may have to re-add the server to their list in Minecraft for this to work properly.
Yes, review this tutorial to learn how to combine resource packs in Minecraft. Issues may arise after doing this, as Faithful wasn’t meant to be merged with others. Continue at your own risk!
