Croptopia Minecraft Mod
in Mods
By Nathan Young
Overview
Managing your health and hunger in Vanilla Minecraft leads players to build farms for food. Whether you’re automatically farming crops or manually collecting steak, it can be time consuming to gather enough. This makes some players want to have more food options, as it’ll come in handy for survival. Introducing new items like these requires modifications, such as Croptopia for Forge and Fabric. Using this mod on your Minecraft server adds many different kinds of fruits, vegetables, snacks, meals, deserts, and drinks. Anyone in the world can freely find ingredients and make large farms to always have enough food nearby. Setting this up is quickly done on our panel, as it only takes a few minutes. However, some newcomers to the modding and hosting scene may not fully understand the process. Due to this, we’ve created this Apex Hosting tutorial to show you how to install and use Croptopia on your Minecraft server.

Getting Started
Upon joining the server, players may notice new vegetation around them in the world. Whether you see fruits on trees or stumble on an interesting crop, there’s plenty of them to encounter. However, there’s even more food items available if you gather ingredients and craft them. If you’ve installed Patchouli, then consider making the Croptopia Book to easily view their recipes. This is crafted by combining a normal book with three new seeds or fruit items. Besides this, we’ll showcase new kinds of food to find, farm, and what settings to tweak from the mod in the subsections below.
New Trees
As you explore the world, unique trees will become visible. These produce food that players can freely take, including Apples, Almonds, Mangos, Avocados, Bananas, Cashews, Cherrys, Coconuts, Limes, and so many others. We highly recommend taking them, as they will satisfy your hunger and continue your survival. However, you may also want to grab a few saplings of them to make a tree farm.
This is especially true if you’re planning to create large meals or small snacks, as you’ll need ingredients.
Unique Crops
Instead of special trees, you’ll find colorful crops scattered throughout the world. These are biome-specific, meaning some will only be available in certain locations. Some of them include Ginger, Zucchini, Olive, Leek, Barley, Pepper, and Broccoli. All of these will be in their seed form, requiring players to build farms to harvest them properly. Otherwise, these can be used for other crafting recipes.
There’s many opportunities with Croptopia, so make sure to take advantage of them.
Food Items
Once you’ve gathered enough ingredients, there are countless recipes for you to try out. Whether you want a quick snack or a full meal, you’re given the ability to make them all. Due to the amount of food choices, we’ll break down tasty ones for you to get started. The subsections below will help you realize what types are available.
Snacks
Smaller food items are considered snacks, such as Bacon Lettuce Tomato Sandwich, Cheesy Asparagus, or a Peanut Butter and Jelly. Some of these will require more ingredients than others, as they are all unique choices. However, the vast majority of them will be easy and cheap to make in your Minecraft server.
This is a perfect option for players wanting to avoid using too many ingredients, while also satisfying their hunger.
Meals
If you’re wanting long lasting food that’ll relieve you of hunger, then consider preparing meals. These can be Spaghetti Squash, Chili Rellenos, or Chicken and Dumplings. Since they’re larger food items, crafting them may require more ingredients than others. This doesn’t mean it’s not worth making, as players will completely satisfy their hunger for lots of in-game time. If you’re exploring and nowhere near your farms, then meals are a great choice.
Deserts
Some players may have a sweet tooth, leading them to create deserts. There are many kinds to choose from, including Doughnuts, Banana Cream Pie, Tres Leche Cake, or Brownies. These won’t be too powerful against hunger, but are similar to snacks since they don’t need too many ingredients. However, some complicated desserts may need extra items for its recipe.
These give you more opportunities to eat the best kind of food in Minecraft, as there are hardly any deserts in the default version of the game.
Drinks
Rather than eating, players can enjoy multiple beverages. These include Lemonade, Coffee, Pumpkin Spice Latte, or Wine, among others. Whether you want sweets or healthy drinks, there’s plenty to try out. However, it’s worth mentioning that these items aren’t the best to satisfy hunger. This feature is more of an entertainment option, as it can be fun to sit around tables drinking with friends. Otherwise, you can craft some beverages to get achievements if you’re hunting all of them.
More Farms
Due to all the different kinds of crops, saplings, and its produce, building farms is heavily suggested. These can be automatic or manual setups, depending on your desire. Regardless of how you make it, these will provide you with tons of fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients for other recipes. This is a farmer’s dream, especially if you combine this modification with different ones. Become creative with your farms and what seeds you use to make the best possible food.
Configuration
If you’re unhappy with how certain crops are generated in the world, then we strongly recommend tweaking Croptopia’s configuration file. This is done by accessing the FTP panel, then making your changes in our editor. When you’re ready, review the steps below to get started.
- Navigate to the
FTP File Access
area and use your login credentials accordingly. - Once logged in, locate and enter the
config
directory from the list. - Afterward, press
Edit
on the right-hand side of the croptopia-common.toml file. - Make any necessary changes, then click the
Save
button at the top. - Return to the main panel and
Restart
the server to apply the edits.
Common Issues
In some cases, players may be unable to join the server due to numerous reasons. One of the most common ones to encounter is entering an incorrect IP Address:Port
or Subdomain when making the connection. Make sure to verify this information from your main panel so everyone knows exactly what should be used to join the server. Besides this, another common issue is failing to set up the Minecraft launcher correctly. Whether the impacted player didn’t install Forge
/Fabric
, transfer the files into the mods directory, or simply downloaded mismatching game versions
, the installation must be right for a successful connection. Ensure everything is configured properly, then try again to see if that works.
Other times, players may notice the modification isn’t working on the server at all. This may be noticed after joining the server and not finding any custom trees or crops, among other missing features. Solving this is relatively simple, as you’ll need to generate a new world for everything to function properly. However, double check you’ve enabled Forge
or Fabric
with its correct version
in the Game File section. Afterward, ensure all files were uploaded successfully in the mods directory from the FTP panel. Once you’ve done all this, restart the server and join to see if it works.
