Combustive Fishing Mod

Overview
There’re many ways to gather resources in Vanilla Minecraft, from mining to looting villages. However, some players may choose to fish for valuable items in rivers and oceans. Whether they’re trying to obtain enchanted books or simply food to sustain themselves, there’s lots of materials to possibly loot. Although, in some cases there aren’t enough items for players to enjoy from fishing. This can lead them to search for alternatives, with one involving using modifications to implement new features. If you’re wanting a better fishing experience with some unique items, then consider trying the Combustive Fishing mod for Forge. Using this is perfect to play with friends, as you can craft a new rod to catch loot in lava pools. Otherwise, making a new powerful sword out of fishing materials is another feature for players. Setting up this mod is easily done on our panel, but may confuse newcomers to the modding scene. Due to this, we’ve created this Apex Hosting guide to show you how to install and use Combustive Fishing on your Minecraft server.

Getting Started

Upon joining the server, players will need to collect some basic resources before using the mod. This is due to the new fishing rod’s recipe, as it requires you to gather materials from the Nether dimension. In other words, you and others will need to play normally until reaching this hellish world. Before making this your only goal, make sure to grab some String from spiders or other ways since it’ll come in handy later on. Once you’re in the Nether, it’ll be time to obtain crafting items for the rod so you may begin fishing in lava. We’ll break down everything you need to know about the Combustive Fishing mod to get you started on this adventure. However, it’s encouraged to install JEI on your Minecraft launcher to easily view crafting recipes and modded items.
Reaching the Nether
Entering the fiery world requires you to build a Nether Portal, forcing you to make a Diamond Pickaxe to collect Obsidian. After gathering enough of these blocks, make the standard frame and craft Flint & Steel to ignite. Once finished, simply hop inside and navigate the harsh environment to locate a Fortress. This process may take some time, as they aren’t too common. Otherwise, enabling cheats can allow you to quickly find this structure without wasting time.

Once you’ve found it, regardless of the method used, search for Blaze Spawners. Walking close to this block triggers its creatures to appear, which is required to make the new fishing rod. Make sure to have strong weapons to face these blazes, possibly even with the Looting enchantment to quickly obtain Blaze Rods. However, if you see any Magma Cube monster along this process, slay it immediately to collect Magma Cream. Do this until you have a decent amount of materials, then continue following down below.
Blazing Fishing Rod
Crafting your new fishing rod requires 3x Blaze Rod, 2x String, and 1x Magma Cream items. Remember, these materials are widely available in the Nether and Overworld. Upon placing them in your crafting table, it’ll return a Blazing Fishing Rod. This acts just like its normal counterpart, but with a different looting table. Keep in mind that this tool does run out of durability after some time, so crafting more is strongly recommended.

After making a few new rods, you’ll want to either navigate to Lava Pools in the normal world or enter the Nether. When you’re at any of these places, simply right-click while holding the tool to cast your line. Wait for a similar fishing animation to appear and drag your bait downwards, then right-click again to catch it. This will allow you and others to collect useful and unique loot to enjoy. However, remember that this doesn’t have the same items as a default fishing rod.
Possible Loot
As for the different types of loot, players can obtain Cooked Cod, Cooked Salmon, Coal, or a Bone Fish. These items are primarily found in the Overworld, while others are in the Nether. For example, Ghast Tears, Searing Swordfish Bills, and Combustive Cods are found in this dimension. The latter two are from the two new mobs only found in lava, but aren’t normally seen at all. It’s important to note that all these items can be obtained in the Nether, making them nonexclusive.

Searing Sword

Once you’ve obtained some loot from fishing in lava, you can craft a Searing Sword. This requires 1x Blaze Rod and 1x Searing Swordfish Bill, meaning it’s easy to make for most players. The sword itself has 9 attack damage and 2.6 swing speed, which is better than any other weapon in Minecraft due to its fast-paced nature. Any player in your server should seek this sword out, as it’ll come in handy during any combat situation.
Combustive Cod
Instead of crafting a sword, you may have noticed that Combustive Cods cannot be eaten. This is due to their immense heat, as they live in lava. However, players can use it as a weapon instead of a food source. Simply right-click at your target and it’ll throw the fish in a fiery explosion. This deals minor damage and destroys soft blocks nearby. Alternatively, press Q
while looking at water to cool down the fish so you may eat it.

Common Issues
In some cases, players may be unable to join their Minecraft server after installing the mod. This can happen for several reasons, such as incorrectly entering the IP Address:Port or Subdomain when making the connection. Fortunately, this information can be verified by checking the main panel, near the top. Besides this, another reason is having an incorrect launcher configuration. Remember, Forge
with your corresponding game version must be installed on the client. Additionally, the Combustive Fishing file needs to be transferred to the localized mods directory. After doing this, ensure you’re launching Minecraft with your modded profile to see if that works.
On the other hand, you may notice the server itself isn’t working properly with this modification. This is likely due to not correctly installing Forge
through the Game File area in the panel. Remember, you must select this with your desired game version before installing Combustive Fishing. After confirming this, simply upload the file to the mods directory from the FTP panel, then restarting
the server to load it. Although, it may be best to create a new Server Profile for this process, as it’ll prevent any conflict from pre-existing files.
